my girls turned two on june 24th....my friend owns a dance company and she has a "teenie ballet class" for 2 and 3 year olds. It is one morning a week for 30 minutes. She thinks the girls would be fine. I am just wondering if it is too early to start them? Any advice?

My girls will be 2 on 9/1 and we might enroll them in a dance class for 2 year olds. The owner of the studio told me it's more or less to get them used to the setting and the goings on. She allows parents in the class and they have a "recital" (a short show) at the end of the year.

I'm not sure we're going to be able to swing it financially, but I hope it happens!

My DD is just starting ballet this week and she turned 4 last month. I'm not sure how much ballet 2 year olds can really learn. My twins are 16 months and they haven't even started talking and it's all about running around.

Catherine is starting this fall at almost 4. I thought about doing it last year at 3, but it didn't work well with our schedule at the time. I think 2 is pretty young!

I have been looking into to this myself and most places around here require children to be at least 3. If I could find one for two year olds I would definitely do it, so I say go for it.

My older girls started at age 3. Most studios in our area start at 4. They loved it though.

We started at three. I may have started earlier if it were an option, but I don't know if she would have been ready. She used to be very clingy and would never have participated in something like that independently.

If your friend teaches it, I'd definitely give it a try! I know my DD's would love dance class, but the only place that offers it for two years olds around us is the same place we had a really bad tumbling class experience with so we're waiting until they are three and we can take a class at a different studio.

My girls started dance classes when they turned 3. It would seem that most little ones under 3 don't have the attention span for a dance class. But an intorduction class that is just getting them familiar with the setting might work ok. The dance class was my girls first experience with a class of any kind and the first opportunity they had to work with other kids. It was great for them. I say if you can, go for it.

My DD started a few months before she turned three; they didn't teach technique very much but got her used to being in a class and learning some of the terminology as well as some basic moves. It was more about the environment of dance than anything. She really enjoyed it and I would do it again. I definitely say go for it!

One of my girls was 2 and the other 2 1/2. They are so cute trying to follow directions at that age. I'll never forget those dance recitals at that age. They are some of my most precious memories. Just keep in mind, they are more or less just learning to semi follow directions - They are just more cute than dancing, but we kept it up for 18 years so they definitely enjoyed it.

My girls will start tap class in September (assuming of course they're finally potty trained by then!). Our studio only offers tap at 3 and then ballet at 4. It's a very professional studio that regularly does competitions and things (not the 3-year-olds obviously...you kwim!)
