Here's my deal.. My boys have always STTN. They are fifteen weeks (10 adj). Come SIX pm-- they BEG to go into their cribs-- I put them in there WIDE awake and BAM-- sound asleep for the whole nite-- no sweat. And for this, I am GREATFUL-- trust me :)

The thing is-- (and I know, I need to be thankful and NOT push my luck.), but they do not nap. They will doze off in swing or something for a little bit or sometimes a BIG nap in the bouncy ETC but IF I even think about putting them in their cribs during the day---- FORGET IT!! Not happening. I have tried CIO during naps and there is no stopping them. None!!!

Should I leave well enough alone and not rock the boat?? Just let them doze here and there or what?? I don't want to ruin the nite time sleep, but a nap would be nice!!

Congrats on STTN! I would just put them in their cribs/bouncies at the same time every day and I think they will eventually start napping better. Our naps were a mess until about 6 months.

It sounds like you have pretty good sleepers. Mine napped in their swings until they were oh wait, sometimes they STILL nap in their swings! It was a gradual transition to the cribs for naps, they will eventually like the crib better.

How many hours are they sleeping at night? Mine are sleeping about 10-12 hours so they are napping very little during the day. I can get about 3 - 45 min to 1 hour naps in them and that's about it. And I try the crib, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. And when I use the bouncy or swing it's the same, 45 minutes.

They sleep 12 or 13 hours per nite and might nap an hour during the day maybe 2 (totally random). I'm glad others are experiencing this too!

Yep same here. My Katie sleeps all night long as well, but she doesn't really have long naps regularly during the day. I'm not stressing over it though because when she is awake she is happy, and just looks around or plays. So, she isn't showing signs of being sleepy and needed a longer nap, kwim?

Could you try putting the bouncy seat in the crib as a transition? Or even the swing/bouncy in their room so they get used to it? I'm jealous as mine are still getting up for a bottle at night, but they are champion nappers. It took a week or so to transition them to the crib, but now they do okay. They were pnp sleepers to start, so I just moved the pnp up to their room for a few days, then moved them to the cribs, and after a little bit of protesting they are champs.

same here. Pretty good night sleepers. Sometimes they wake up at night for paci reinsertion, but not good nappers during the day.

I think you're still in the transition from "sleep, eat, wake" stage to more structured naps. My kids got more structured at 5 months cause I got more focused on getting them down before they became overtired. early on, there was a fine line between early sleepy signs and overtired. Start looking for an eye rub, yawn or staring off -- and put them down immediately from that point. you'll see that you'll get better napping once you start catching them earlier.

I read Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child at this time and it was a great help.
