Trent fell off the couch onto the wooden floor! I was changing Colten and he was sitting in the boppy on the couch. I actually thought to myself I shouldn't leave him there, but i did. I turned around for a second and heard Thud! I think he rolled forward and somersaulted off the couch. He was on the floor screaming. I felt so bad. He seems fine now, no bumps, but I feel awful! Do you think he could have a concussion? Has this happened to anyone else or am I just the worlds worst Mom?

sorry Trent took a tumble.
Probably no concussion. Did he get knocked out? Was he unconsolable for an extended time? I'm no doc but you can always call your if you think it is possible.

BTDT, twice . It happened to both boys w/ in a 24hr span. Obviously not one of my finer mommy moments. Just keep an eye on him today and look for signs of concussion. I am sure he will be just fine.

He didn't get knocked out or cry for very long after I soothed him. He seems totally fine now. I am just paranoid.

It's nice to know that this has happened to other Mom's. Thanks

I heard the rule was to worry if they fell further than their own height. But obviously, I'm not a doctor...

I know you feel bad but if you are a bad mom I'm a terrible one.....both of my kids have feel off the bed twice...you think I'd have learned the first time but I just figured oh they are asleep I'll here them if they wake up....well nope I didn't but they were fine thank God and I did quit putting them on my bed asleep

Mine fell off the bed two months back....I know it's hard for you. But he'll be ok.
As another PP suggested, as long as he was not unconscious, I think he should be fine.

Believe we've all been there and done that! My DD fell off the couch at 5 months. You are not a bad mommy. As other posters said if he did not experience unconsciousness then he should be fine  to you both!

I just posted on this!! My DD fell off my bed last week....out of her boppy as well. My pedi said keep them up for an hour, look for unequal pupils, vomiting or bumps. If they go to sleep check on them every 30 min for a couple of hours, make sure they are responsive to your touch. My DD was fine, but it was hard to deal with!! We are now on the floor for feedings.

    You are not alone.

Thanks Ladies! I knew I could count on you to make me feel better. He's sleeping now but I keep checking on him. You all are the best.

 It always breaks your heart when they get hurt. I bet it scared him more than anything. And just so you don't feel so bad, I dropped my 2 week old about a foot onto the cement driveway on her head once. And the boys fell off my bed countless times. And I accidently knocked my two year old off the stoop onto the cement on his head just the other day. Those accidents happen so quickly, but fotunately God made babies so resilient!

I was so paranoid about them falling off stuff (bed/couch) that I never even sat them up there. It was a PITB. So go figure, Ryan starts trying to bang his head INTO the wall every time I took him up the stairs. He liked it!! I think babies have a lot harder heads then we think. Even now Ryan like to bang heads with us as a term of endearment. :umm:
