Oh my gosh, I am sooooo upset!!! I had put the girls in their swings while I picked out their outfits for church today. Well, I had forgotten that Claire recently rolled over & is now mobile, so I hadn't strapped them in. After about 15-10 minutes of looking at their clothes, I heard a thud & then a cry. I knew right away what had happened, I ran out of their room to see Claire lying on the hardwood floor under her swing!!! I picked her up & she seemed OK, just a little scared, but I'm worried that she bumped the back of her head since she was lying face up. Since I wasn't in the room I don't know how she fell & how hard she hit the floor. I cried about it while my husband held her & made sure she was OK. I feel like the worst mom EVER since I knew she should have been strapped in :( I hate to think what could have happened if she was higher off the ground!

Becki, I had a similar incident this morning but with my almost 16 month old. Yes I know he should be strapped in his high chair, but he managed to climb out when I left the room. I was in tears also. I am sure she is fine, just check for swelling. You are definitely not a bad mommy, even though you feel that way now. We all make mistakes!! :hug99:

Don't beat yourself up over it! It definately happens to just about everyone... at least all of us human moms & dads! When my daughter was about 5 months old I left her on the bed with my husband while I showered. She was fussing and crying while I was in the shower so it was a quick one, but I figured she was safe since she was there with her dad... Well, it was that day I realized how soundly my husband sleeps when just as I had stepped out of the shower I heard that same thud that makes you sick and then a cry!!! I was hysterical!! We did call the doctor who saw her and said to watch her and try to keep her awake for several hours... I think it was like 4 hours. She them preceeded to tell us that a similar thing happened to her with her youngest when she didn't strap her into the stroller and she tried to climb out tipping the stroller... The difference was that her kid had to get stiches!! So, we felt better sort of... Knowing that others who you respect have gone through very similar things helps!

By the way... YOU ARE NOT A BAD MOMMY!!!

It could happen to any of us. It looks like are girls are just a few days apart. I have a roller too that just can't stay still. I realized today that I really need to strap her in the bouncy. I went into the kitchen and came back and she was almost out of her seat. I am glad she is okay.

I dropped my son out of his car seat while carrying it from his bedroom to the family room. The handle was a click back so when I set the car seat down, he fell right out. We took him to the er and the Dr. said a fall from that distance is not very far and that their heads are so strong. I am so sorry that happened but wanted you to know it happens to the best of us. :hug99:

Thank you all for your kind replies & words of support. I do feel better to know I'm not the only one who learns to strap her babies in the hard way! :hug99:

If it makes you feel better, I was holding my daugther up while she was sitting (she can't on her own yet) and she was playing with a hard plastic toy. Well, my son did something that made me look over at him, I let go of her. She fell back, hit her head on the hardwood floor and the toy she was playing with hit her on her forehead. I felt soooo bad! We all do things like that. You are not bad mommy!

We have all been there, so don't beat yourself up. My dd fell off the bed when she was 7 months old and Van rolled off the couch last weekend (clearly the bad mommy award goes to me seeing as I don't learn from my mistakes!) :) I'm glad she's ok!
