so i had just gotten everyone down for nap time. M starts crying, I ignore her for a little bit to see if she will go back to sleep. She starts screaming like a mad woman so I head out to the living room to check on her. then I see it, she has managed to wiggle herself almost completely out of the swing sideways...I had her straped in pretty good too. Her whole body was hanging over the side upside down with her legs still straped in. She was literally upside down. [IMG] I feel terrible, she had these big old tears and all, she was more scared than anything. Please tell me how a strapped in baby manages to do something like this????? Shes totally fine now, I held her for a few minutes and now shes jumping away in the jumperoo. I feel like such an idiot [IMG]

Nope, I'm afraid that doesn't qualify for the Bad Mommy award! I'm being a worse Mommy than you today. I tried to choke Sean today while feeding him some oatmeal. [IMG]

Accidents happen sweetie, I would have done the same as you. [IMG]

Those babies become wiggly, squirmy escape artists...no bad mommy award for you!

I've stopped putting Lily in the swing because I feared she was just about ready to do that exact same thing. She sits herself way forward and leans over the side every time we put her in there, so we stopped. Grace, on the other hand, still loves to lay back, relax, and watch the mobile go around while swinging!!

[IMG] Don't feel too bad about it, stuff like that happens to everybody. I have a niece who can get out of ANYTHING. Even her carseat!! I think some babies are just born magicians.

Oh, puh-leeze. That's nothing. For 11 months, we've managed to keep our cribs away from the windows where there are curtains, blinds -- and behind the blinds those electric window candles. Well, the candles aren't being used, but the previous homeowner had them nailed/tacked into teh window sill in about five places ... we were too afraid to mess the wood up so left them in place.

Well, last night DH went in to check on Jadyn, who had started crying (again) at bedtime. He found her sitting up near the window, in a typical position, but the cord was wrapped around her neck!!!!!!!! Not in a strangle position, but like a scarf but when he went to remove it, it was very tight, he said.

We were both really freaked out all night. I couldn't sleep, worrying about it. He moved the crib far away (their room is very small) but we both kept thinking about finding her like that.

Today, I'm happy to report, that windowsill looks like crap, but that candle and cord are way gone in the trash.

Just goes to show you how much we learn in the first year, right?

My son wiggled his way out of his car seat on the interstate and I didn't realize it until he
was crawling over the front seat!!! He was 11 months old! How I missed that one I will NEVER know!

Oh gosh, I remember when mine did that! One time Zack even jumped himself out of the bouncy chair, and it fell over and he bumped his head (it was sitting in the floor, who woulda thought?)

You are not a bad mommy, things happen. Don't beat yourself up over it.
