For the past 2 months now I have had the absolute worst hemmoroid and it WILL NOT GO AWAY. I have tried everything I could find from the store: wipes, creams, gels, and yes even suppositories. My DH seems to think that I am going to have to have surgery to get it removed, but, I don't even want to have to go to the dr. for this. It's kind of embarrasing-ya know? I never had a hemmoroid until I got pregnant, and now this one won't leave me alone. Does anyone have any suggestions, or home remedies that might work? I will try anything! I am dying here!

The only thing I can think of is preperation H, that works pretty good. And using the Tucks pads in your underwear. If it doesn't get better, your DH is right, you do need to have it checked by the DR. My dad had to have hemoroid surgery a few years back.

The hospital gave me hydrocortisone ointment and witch hazel pads. It worked!

I got a nasty painful one a few weeks after the babies were born. I was so mad...I never had one before, and then I did not have any all during the pregnancy, but then I got one about two weeks after the babies were born. I used the PrepH cream and suppositories- all the time. I also took hot baths a couple of times a day, just to soak. These helped the most I think. I told myself that I would give it a week, and then I was going to have to head to the doctor (Even though I had just been poked and prodded for nine months while pregnant with twins, I was still extremely embarassed to go to the doctor). Sitting down was painful, but after I was down, I was okay. Getting up was even more painful. I was miserable. Oh, and I took some Tylonel or Advil, can't remember, probably Tylonel since I was nursing.
A friend of mine has them a lot...he uncle (who is an intestinal doctor) said the best thing to do to keep them from reappearing is to 'oil' yourself everytime you go number two. TMI, I know...but she said that it does help. She says that she does not do it every time, just when she feels them starting up again.

Okay, you may not want to hear some of this but I am a nurse and have way too much personal experience as well... A hemmorroid is actually a dilated vein and they never actually go away they just shrink and swell. You've tried everything it seems to get it to shrink (and stop itching and hurting) but every time you have a BM it is going to aggravate it. This sounds awful I know but sometimes you just have to take your finger and push them back up inside the rectum and it will feel better. It hurts pretty bad to manipulate it but then it is so much better! You really should get it checked if you can't get it to shrink up on its own. They shouldn't really hurt as long as they are really small again because they shouldn't be bleeding and enlarged. Hope you feel better soon! I know it's miserable!

Thanks for the advice. I'm scared, but, I will try the pushing it up thing. It's not like it can get any worse, right?
