I am almost 22 weeks pregnant and at my 20wk apt. I was measuring 31 weeks. This past week my back as been killing me all day! I don't know what to do. I take tylenol but I don't want to have to take this for the next 4 months. I have been sick the past few days and being over Christmas break we have sat around all day, so I don't know if it will get better once I start work back. But if it is going to be this painful and worse as the months go on I think I am going to collapse!

    Any ideas on relief?

Have you tried heating pads and/or hot baths? I have two heating pads which have really helped me through my pregnancy. There isn't too much medicine you can take. Also, might try a brace (like the prenatal cradle). Sometimes that helps take the weight of the babies off your back and might help.

    Hope you start feeling better

I take tylenol, warm baths, I also rigged up a way to strap ice packs on my back with my pregnancy belt, and I have my husband rub it every night...none of this is a sure thing, only temporary fixes...sorry to break it to you, it only gets worse. I kind of have a bad attitude right now as I am hitting a wall at just over 34 weeks. :)

My back has hurt really bad for almost the last month. At my 32 week ultrasound (I'm 34 weeks 5 days now) we found out that both boys are transverse (or laying side ways) and that's whats cause such bad back pain. My doctor told me that delivery would be the only way to stop it, but she did give me some tylenol with codiene (sp?). Sometimes all I can do is lay in bed and take baths, sounds a lot nicer then it actually is. Hang in there!

    Hi,

When I was pregnant with my twins, I used a pregnancy support belt and it really helped my back pain. I could tell the difference by about noon if I wasn't wearing it. It looked pretty funny and was a bit of a pain having to readjust it every time I used the bathroom, but it was definately worth it. It fit under my clothes so no one else could tell I was wearing it. I purchased mine at Babies R Us...

I take baths and see the chiropractor. I get back pain and my ribs start to hurt if I sit too long. You are not alone. My back pain is the only real pregnancy complaint I have..... everything else is fine.
