"Backpacks" in action! (pic)

I took the girls outlet shopping today with my friend and her twins. They (mine) were really peeved about being in the stroller. Super-cranky and just miserable. So I took out the backpacks and let them walk. I asked them to hold hands, and they did for about 10 minutes, strolling along, giggling, looking at everything we passed, and basically cracking up every single passer-by. They wouldn't let me go into any stores, of course, so all I ended up with was 2 shirts from Carter's and a package of socks for my BF's daughter. And my favorite camera-phone picture ever!

Where did you get the little backpacks? I thought I could find them at my local BRU but didn't have any luck.

 

We did the exact same thing this weekend. I took a photo to, but I still have to download it. I got a lot of "disapproving looks" from many people. One women even commented... "Doesn't it feel like you are walking your dog on a leash?" All I could think of to say was "Well I don't own a DOG so instead I perfer to "walk" my children." She rolled her eyes and walked away! I just stood there laughing at her like she thought I would actually perfer to "walk" my kids. I use them (backpacks) to teach them to hold hands and to keep them safe beside me and from wondering off. They did really well with holding hands, for the first 20 minutes or so and then they wanted to go...go....GO!

rheamay - I got them at Target. They're in the baby aisle with the baby bathtubs, etc. I think, not with backpacks and stuff. I think they were made by Eddie Bauer, $9.99 apiece!

Tammie - I can't believe someone would be so rude! Well, I can because people are dumb. We didn't get any comments, but I do feel like I see kids with these backpacks fairly regularly around here. Maybe that makes a difference?

I used to think that putting your kids on a leash wasn't the coolest. But when you have 2 running seperate directions...well...you know! They are getting testy with their stroller and I think it's a great way to be able to let them get out and get some exercise without losing your sanity!

That is so cute! And I'm glad to hear you were able to use them so young. You prompted me to finally order some! (I just ordered them off the Target website -- we have a Target near us, but finding things there is always a challenge.)

Very cute. :wub: I love those backpacks, I seriously want to hug whoever invented them. Emma has a puppy and I'm planning on getting 2 for the boys when they learn to walk.

My confident walker hates to be confined to the stroller, so I can only imagine the trouble I will be in once my second twin confidently walks (she walks a little now). I always said I'd never put a leash on my kid, but then that was before I had twins.

Now I'll be purchasing some of those too.

I used to be one of those that thought the leashes were ridiculous, but DH made fun of me the other day when I was eyeing the teddy bear ones that they sell at Walmart. With two I now think they are a must! That picture is too cute!
