Back Spasms?

Anybody else have back spasms at the end of their pregnancy? I was having hot flashes last night and was unable to sleep. All of a sudden I had this excruciating pain and convulsions in my middle and lower back. They went on for 15 minutes and were followed by an hour of shaking and chills. Is this normal? I've had leg cramps before but this was so much worse.

 

Could it be contractions?

 

Contractions is what I would guess as well. I think there's something called 'back labor' where you feel most of the contractions in your back. I would probably stop in at Labor & Delivery or at least give your OB a call. Good luck!

 

That's how my preterm labor felt sometimes...especially with the "hot flash" description.

 

That definitely sounded like back labor to me. Sounds like your uterus is getting ready for the real show.

 

Add me to the back labor camp. I went into L&D the week before I had my girls complaining of extreme back pain. They dismissed it and my girls arrived less than a week later.
