I'm not sure if this is where this topic belongs but I am curious if anyone else is having problems? Since the boys have gotten a little bigger and more active, I feel like my back is going to just snap in half. I am miserable and there is just no way to avoid picking up my babies or the physical work of just taking care of them each day. I can barely sleep through the night and all day it is just sore!!! I have been seeing a chiropractor and I don't know if it is helping or making things worse. I am still nursing so I don't want to take massive amounts of pain relievers (not that I would want to anyway). Just curious if anyone else is having problems and what if anything have you found works.

I don't think mine is as bas as you're describing, but yes, I'm definitely having quite a bit of back pain. Someone posted just a few days ago about abdominal separation- and one thing I learned from the post is that if it hasn't healed back up correctly, the main consequence is back pain! I'm planning on going in soon anyways, so I'm going to have all that checked out. I've never dealt w/ a chiro, but I'm sure seeing your OB or MD in addition to the chiro sure can't be a bad idea!

As far as what I do... honestly, at this point, like you said, there's no getting around it for me, but when it's really bad, I've found a nice warm bath helps, and making sure I sleep flat, and not on my side. I hope you get relief soon!!! :hug99:

I have major lower back issues and dealing with 2 big babies is no picnic. I hate to say it, but the only thing that has worked for me is exercise. I had been going to a chiropractor for forever, but I swear it wasn't getting better. Once I got back on the treadmill (along with some ab work stuff) it has gotten a lot better. The constant bending over and picking up is a killer!!! Motrin helps, too. I hope you feel better soon!!

YES! And they are only (almost) 4 months old...not even that heavy yet! Makes me nervous for when they get even bigger. It kills my back to lean over and change them on the pack n play changer and to pick them up from their crib, from the floor or to bend over and put them in their swing. Carrying them around in the car seats kills my back too. UGH....

Before I got pregnant I had back surgery so I sure can relate. My back was doing great for a while but latley with all of the lifting it is very sensitive. I make sure to stretch every night. It is very important. If I do not I am in real bad shape the next day. The best stretch is to lay on your back with your legs straight up against the wall, or if you have a yoga ball put that against the wall and rest your legs against that, that is what I do. The other thing I strongly recommend is acupuncture. I use to go to a chiropractor and I may have gotten some temporary relief but with acupuncture I found more permanent relief. To bad I have such little time/money to go that often anymore. IBprofron is an anti-inflamatory that helps also. Good Luck, my best advice is to stretch, stretch, stretch!

No advice, but I feel the same way. My shoulders also kill me. I had a massage around Valentine's day and it actually helped for a couple of days. But after the 4th trek up the stairs with both boys, it felt the same way as before.

I had the same problem for a long time. We invested in a new bed and since then, it has done wonders for my back. Less pain throughout the day and a much better nights sleep.

yup, mine hurts all the time. couple of things do help (since I can't seem to find/make the time to exercise the way i used to!): if you are VERY conscious of pulling your scapula together (between your shoulder blades), that really helps. It's SO easy to just slump over, especially if you are nursing because your breasts are larger AND you're so often rounded over.

At the same time, try to tuck your pelvis under and pull in your abs - NOT suck in your stomach, but tighten your abs from the inside.

I also find that even doing a few shoulder rolls or doing some spine loosening from side to side helps. And - if you know the yoga pose 'cat/cow', that really helps: on all fours, totally round your back (think Halloween cat!), then do the opposite.

Oh my I could have posted this. I have slipped a disk and now it is pinching a nerve in my lower back!!! It was so bad that I had to take a massive dose of pain killer and that dried up my milk supply, so my little ones were weaned. I still can not pick them up, luckily they are walking and doesnt want to be picked up, but tw months down the line, my back it still hurting like h$ll. My chiropractor has given me some exerc. to do and it help some, but this is a long healing process. Good luck and hugs to all of you suffering the same fate.

1st off if ur bed is over 7 years old u probably need to change it (I woz amazed at the difference it made for me).

Also I know u won't feel like it coz u are in pain, but exercise and strengthening ur core, if abs are strong it balances out your back. The yoga pilates something like that. ( I need to do this also and my girls are 4)

    Hope it gets better soon.

My back is pretty sore. It hurts right now but that may also be because Auntie Flo is making her monthly visit. <_<

Something that helped was to do this exercise, sort of like a sit up but on your tummy if that makes any sense. Also - no slouching. That's bad for your back.
