So I have been to L&D twice with BH. The first time I had positive FFN and was given tributaline (sp?) and sent home. Second time just IV fluids for 24 hours. I have been feeling fine the last week, still having contractions but doc figured it was just going to be normal now until labor. Well today at my weekly checkup my cervix was much shorter. Last week it was 3.18 and today it was 1.55. I knew as soon as she put the probe in there it wasn't the same. It is still closed and not dilating, but they sent me to L&D.
So I have been here since 10 am on fluids, magnesium and a liquid diet. The contractions were every 3 min when I came in but have slowed down since I have been on the meds. Magnesium is a wild ride. I've gotten used to it now after these few hours. I got a steroid shot and I will be here at least until tomorrow afternoon to get the second steroid shot. The babies are doing fine and both head down at the moment. They are just watching the contractions now. If they think I might go into labor, they will transfer me to the other hospital a few blocks away that has a NICU. I hope they send me home instead!
This all just snuck up on me, I thought I was doing good. Well, just thought I'd share. If anyone has any suggestions of things to do while stuck in the hospital, let me know. I love to cross-stitch but they put the IV in my wrist and I just can't do it with this in the way.

 Good luck girl! I pray they send ya home and u can keep those lil ones cooking. Steroid shots arent fun, but i'm glad you got them. I swear one of my butt cheeks was still sore 2 days later! Keep us updated on what happens. I spent my time in the hospital zoned out watching a lil tv and spending time on the computer, but didnt have motivation to go further than that.

First of all I want to congratulate you for making it to 28 weeks!! That is a huge milestone!! Secondly, I am so glad they are keeping a close eye on you and the babies! I was on Mag for 4 weeks, and it was not fun! So glad you got the steroid shots as well! Keep those babies cooking Momma! Everyday you can keep them in, is 3 days they won't have to be in the NICU. You are doing a great job!!

Oh it gets better unfortunately. Do you Twitter? Follow KeepEmCooking is a gret person to follow. Can you ask for a PICC instead of an IV? I swear it hurts less than getting an IV in the first place.
Either way I hope you get to come home and cook those babes for a few more months!!

I know Magnesium just makes you feel like crap! I just had it for the first time this weekend on my own trip to the L&D to stop labor.

Just hang in there!! Keep those babies cooking!

They have lowered my magnesium to 2 grams/hr and took me off the monitors for 4 hours. I'm supposed to go back on in a bit for an hour. I got my second steroid shot today, so I'm glad thats over. They let me shower and eat real food, yey!! So I am doing better, I've only felt 3 contractions in the past 3 hours. That is the best I've been in weeks. They are going to take me off the mag tomorrow to see if I can go home. I just want to make it out for my baby shower scheduled for Sunday!! Thanks everyone for your support.
