They did an ultrasound and the baby looks great, only one, yeah! :) I didn't wasn't able to hear the heartbeat but we could see it beating. I don't know what the rate was either. I thought I was due on Jan 19th because my cycles were around 25 days but according to the ultrasound it's Jan 24th. He did tell me that although I'm a perfect candidate for a VBAC I probably won't be allowed to try for one because right now their policy is once a c-section always a c-section. He said that may change if they end up getting more anesthesiologists. The girls and my niece got to see my ultrasound so that was neat. I'm so excited!

yay for healthy baby! That really stinks about their vbac policy. I noticed you are up in alaska, which I suppose reduces the chance of finding a different hospital. The only other possibility I've heard is when women just happen to show up at the hospital at 9cm and pop the baby out regardless of their vbac policy. I have also heard of women just outright refusing to sign the paperwork for a c/s...but it's hard to push against the doctors to that extent, especially if you are in labor and already concerned about your safety and the baby's. It's nice to know when your doctor really thinks there is a risk and when it is just considered 'risk' by hospital policy because there really is a difference between those two things.

I've heard that too...except they'll probably try to schedule a c/s for 38 weeks to make sure you don't try this. Maybe you should pray to get snowed in for a couple of weeks around then? ;)
