I joined Twinstuff a few months into my first pregnancy back in 2002.... It was an incomparable resource of information and support from the day I found it to the months and years after J&G were born (38 weeks, 6lbs9oz and 5lbs11oz). As the boys got older and we got busier, my activity on Twinstuff tapered off - but I still activated my new login during the switch to the new boards.... and now here I am again!

We knew we wanted to have another baby but decided to try again after I got my degree. Talk about motivation to finally finish school! In early 2005 when the boys were 2, I returned to school part-time, worked part-time and - of course - was a mommy and wifey full-time. It took two years, but I graduated with a B.A. in Legal Studies from UC Berkeley in May 2007. (Go me! ;)) After returning to work full-time and a weeks-long family trip overseas in the late summer to celebrate the graduation, we started trying to catch a ride on the baby train again. Confirmed early during Thanksgiving week that all that nausea was due to a pregnancy... and after our first appointment the week before Christmas, found out that it was twins.

Just like many of you here, we spent those first few weeks after confirming the pregnancy wondering, "What if it's twins again?" During the first go-round, I had such a strong feeling it was twins that the first U/S felt more like a confirmation of what I already knew. This time it was just so different - no strong feelings, or dreams, or anything - but nausea is much worse. Twins run in my family (both my mom's and dad's side), and we knew the chances were increased having just gone off the pill and now that I'm in my 30's. Still - we were shocked to see our two new munchkins wiggling around on that black & white screen two weeks ago. Shocked but happy nonetheless!

It's a little scary because our circumstances are so different now from five years ago. Money worries are abound now that we DEFINITELY need to move to a bigger place, DEFINITELY need buy a bigger car, etc., etc., etc. And although there were no huge complications with my pregnancy the first time around, we know there are no guarantees that this one will go just as smoothly. But the anxiety is diminished when we realize that J&G are excited about their new sibs and will be old enough to help out... that we already know what it's like to take care of two babies and know which equipment NOT to buy this time around... and that we are truly blessed to have these two new lives to nurture and care for.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone, and wishing you all the best in the new year and in your pregnancies!

Thought I would share also the good news in the overall Expecting Twins forum since they're really a different audience from the Pregnant After Twins sub-forum, but I guess that's not allowed? Got it.... --P.

That is amazing, congratulations. I know what it is like trying to go to school and raise children. I worked on my associates while pregnant with my second child and finished after he was born. I worked on my BS when they were older and am almost halfway through my Master's. I am trying to squeeze in one more before the babies come. It is definitely interesting. Way to go getting done before you got pregnant again. Welcome back to the group.

Congrats, congrats, congrats.... How exciting.... Reading your post reminded me of when I found out about our second set. Hope you have a great pregnancy....

When we had our second set (19 months after the first set) we downsized our home so I could go from working FT to PT. We needed more space, but I like being in a smaller home and being all 4 kids primary caretaker.

    Take Care, Tara
Mommy to Jordyn & Taylor (age: 3) and Ellie & Avery (age: 2)

We never really used our wipe warmer. The CD player on our portable stereo worked just fine for playing lullaby music - shouldn't have spent money on the one that attaches to the crib. One crib worked out for us just fine (they slept together) until they were old enough to have their own toddler beds. One megasaucer was fine too. Oh, and instead of regular high-chairs, we just bought two to strap on to our existing dining chairs. The little rockers were cute but were just not as convenient to move around as the bouncers. Even though they folded up, the two of them took up surprisingly a lot of space. Also, we never really used the floor activity centers - and even if we had, one would have been enough rather than two. Our place is pretty small and budget pretty tight, so I think most of our lessons learned had to do with trying not to buy two of everything. I'm sure there are more, but these are all I can remember at the moment! :) --P.

Congratulations on your progress toward your Master's, and kudos to you on accomplishing so much. I am amazed at how much more motivated I was to finish and do a good job in school with the boys. Those mornings when the hubby and boys dropped me off to class and they cried and cried were hard... but as they got a little older, they got a kick out of visiting "Mommy's school" and attending the events put on by the student parent group. The time turned out to be right, and I have no regrets about it at all. Wishing you the best in your pregnancy and schooling! --P.

Yes, definitely! When we thought we were pregnant with one, we were going to have it be a surprise. But with twins, we just want to be a little more prepared - names, clothes, etc. The ultrasound is scheduled for the end of Feb... so we'll see! --P.
