DD Allie has come down with a cold, AFAIK. It feels like DW and I are not far behind.

I've read about the Vapo Rub on the feet with socks and I've been trying to use the Booger-Sucker Outer (Bulb Syringe) but I never think those things work.

Please help! I know that everything will work itself out, but in the meantime Allie is MISERABLE. What has worked for you in the past?

Thanks so much for your advice, in advance.

Oh and Happy Daylight Savings time for those of you whose kids are already up on the east coast!

Try using saline drops and then the bulb syringe. Put one drop in each nostril and then wait a bit to see if she sneezes the buggers out. If not, then suck. Also try a humidifier in her room. Is it just nasal congestion or also a cough? Mine really haven't had a cough yet so I can't give any advice on that. Hope she feels better! -Leighann

Edited to fix spelling errors (its too early in the morning!)

    Hi!
What is AFAIK?? Trying to figure that one out, but I can't. Must be just too early! :D

My girls were consistenly stuffy last winter with the occasional runny nose. I used to just use plain Saline nose drops several times a day with a cool mist humidifier in their room for naps/bedtime and it worked wonders.

eta: Leighann and I were posting at the same time. Great minds think alike. :D

Yep - as far as I know. I'm going to try the saline drops in the nose. We turned the cold air humidifier on last night.

I just read the report on SIDS and how in a majority of the cases the children had a genetic mutation that caused their brain to not register that the breathing wasn't occurring through their nose, so their mouths did not open, hence suffocation. Needless to say, I've been checking her every 15 min. or so. I guess there is such a thing as being too knowledgeable.

    Thank you for the advice!

I completely agree. That first year is just so nerve wracking. I hope she slept better last night and if not, that it's tonight that she sleeps "like a baby". :D

She slept through, no small part to the vaporizer. She snored like her daddy though (who is getting her cold now...thanks for sharing)! I just can't wait until we can teach her to blow her nose. It sounds like she's got a pound of snot in there. But at least air is still getting through. Vicks on the feet seemed to help the cough too. I love TS forums...so glad I found you all!

Glad to hear she slept through!! I found that for the few colds my girls had, if I just kept up with the saline several times a day it seems to wash all that gook right out of there.

Glad you found us too! We are a wealth of information sometimes!! :D
