I've seen several people say that they feed baby yogurt. I've looked at in the store and noticed that it has whole milk in it... So I'm a little confused on when it's ok to give your babies yogurt? Aren't they supposed to wait till 1 year to have milk products? When did some of you start yogurt? Our babies are 8.5 months old actual and 6 months adjusted.

We only needed to wait until 12 months old to give them whole milk to drink. But until then it's okay to give them milk products; cheese, pudding, yogurt, etc. . .

My girls got their first ear infection in June maybe, so 8ish months, and because they had to take antibiotics, I started them eating yogurt. There is no history of allergies in the family so I tried it, that was their first dairy. After a few weeks I let them try cheese.

accoording to super baby food by ruth yaron (an amazing book and tells all about what babies can and should eat at what age) whole milk yogurt can be eaten at six months.... and you're right, regular milk should be avoided until a year.

I started at 7 months. I just buy the big containers of organic yogurt and they get a spoon or two at breakfast, that I mix with fruit and cereal. Yobaby is so expensive.

Our pedi. told us milk products were ok at 6 months, but that milk to drink had to wait until 12 months. We did a lot of yogurt to help out with all the anitbiotics they were on for ear infections. We really only did yogurt until about 9 months, and that's when we added cheese and such.

Started yogurt and cheese at 9 months. Something about the cultures and being made from whole milk is different about digestion/allergies than drinking whole milk.

We started yogurt around 7 or 8 months I think. It's fine for babies to have items containing whole milk - they just shouldn't be drinking whole milk instead of formula or breast milk. Yogurt is a great source of nutrition and mixes well with fruit purees and infant cereals. My kids have always loved it! At that young age I opted for high-fat, organic plain yogurt and mixed with fruit purees (the pre-mixed fruit yogurts contain sugar and often are low in fat).
