We had our growth ultrasound on Wednesday (I was 27 wks, 6 days) and Twin A weighed 2 lbs 2oz, and Twin B 1 lb 14 oz. Their fluid levels were great and so were their dooplers. I go today for another BP check at my OB and it is still up but blood work and urine come back normal, but they are still thinking it may be the beginnings of preeclampsia. Well my OB is reading the report from the U/S on Wednesday and told me they are really small for their gestational age. So he has put me on strict bedrest (I had been on modified bedrest). His concern being their weight and the fact I may have the beginnings of preeclampsia. Has anyone else gone through this?

I have, more than once. IUGR does come with preeclampsia. My 2 pre-e pregs landed me with babies 2-4 weeks behind in size and all my kiddos were preemies. Do left sided strict bedrest as much as you can. Have someone make your meals, do your laundry, clean up. Strict bedrest means to only get up for the restroom and a short shower. It stinks but it helps the blood flow through the placenta, which is very important to help with their growth. Check out http://preeclampsia.org/about.asp They have lots of helpful info, people who have been there and are dealing with it now as well. Their forum is a great place for support much like here. Watch for any and all of the symptoms as pree can not be there one day and can be severe the next. There are many women though who do go on to never develop pree but only PIH and there are not a lot of women who get it severely.

I will keep you and your babies in prayer :hug99:

Good luck - I haven't had that - but sounds like others have made it through just fine. The strict bedrest will probably help a lot - try to stick to it - it seems like a long time - but in the scheme of the babies' lives it's nothing. I'm sure you and the girls will be fine! Do you have names yet?

I was totally fine with my triplet pregnancy up to week 29. Then my b/p started getting higher and in one week I gained 13 pounds. At week 31, the dr put me in the hospital. the following week at my regular u/s the dr noticed that babies B & C hadn't grown since the previous test. They delivered me the next day at 32w4d. The entire time in the hospital all my pre-e tests were normal but they still felt I was at risk.
Please, stay in bed and let hubby or someone else take care of everything. It looks like your twins are still within good range of each other weight-wise. Try to get lots of protein in your diet, it will help them gain weight. I drank the Ensure with extra protein. If you drink it cold its not too bad.
Hang in there...and call the dr if you start feeling 'off'. I didn't pay enough attention to what my body was trying to tell me. Luckily, the dr acted at the first sign of pre-e.
Our trio ended up only spending 16 days in the NICU and are now getting fatter each day. We go Monday for 2-month shots...oh god..what a day that is gonna be. I need the Tylenol for myself..hehe..
    Take care,
