Hi All! I just found out that I am having a schedule C-section next week …. I’ll almost be 36 weeks then. The reason they are scheduling the c-section is because one of our boys has a single umbilical artery and they say carrying him any longer then 36 weeks can put him at risk since his growth is slowing a bit. Our growth scan on Friday showed Baby A at 5.3 and Baby B at 3.11. So quite a big difference although they have been this way the entire pregnancy.
I am getting scared now since it seems like it is coming so soon. The whole pregnancy has been a rough a ride … I have tried to put aside my fears and just make it this many weeks….. now a lot of my fears are coming back.
Question: Did anyone else have a twin with SUA? Did your baby have slowed growth and low birth weight? Everything turn out okay?

    Thanks!

No experience with SUA but I just wanted to wish you the best for next week and I look forward to hearing your birth story. Praying for two healthy babies!

We found at at 20 weeks that both of our twins had SUA, and they were both born last week on the 9th without any issues. 5'10 and 5'13. We never had bid weight differences, and ours were delivered at 38 weeks and 2 days. But i wish you all the best, and as far as the SUA, from all of our research, it's one of the most common abnormalities.

    GL!

Our boy has SUA and things seem to be fine. Both of our little peanuts are small. At 33 weeks he was 3.7 and she was 3.10 but now at 35 weeks he jumped to 4.4 and she is at 4.0. However they are both still at or under the 10th percentile for growth & we are stuck with the diagnosis of IUGR. The twins have been playing this weight "GAME" ever since I can remember. As soon as I get nervous about his weight..he passes his sister up...go figure.

It sounds like your doc is doing a fantastic job monitoring you. They have determined that the "Outside world" will make a better home for him at 36 weeks & thats what we pay them the big bucks for. Remember too that the u/s scans for weight are not always accurate...so he can be bigger than you think or he can do what mine did and gain a whole bunch of weight when you least expect it.

Sierra had a SUA in addition to being the donor twin for TTTS. We induced at 35.2 weeks because of her slowing growth. She was perfectly fine when she was born and spent 7 days in the Special Care Nursery as a feeder/grower. She was discharged at 3 lb 11 oz and has always been healthy. Babies with SUA are usually just fine once they are born.

Our bigger baby, Ainsley, spent 9 days in the NICU due to breathing issues (which isn't very common at this gestation and probably had to do with the TTTS).
