Our house is pretty big and the girls play well together in their *relatively* baby-proofed room, but I feel like I need to run in there every time I hear a bump, someone is crying, or worse: there is absolute silence. I started looking at baby video monitors but wonder if anyone has a good one they are glad they got or if they are a waste of money.
My girls just turned one, so I am new here, (over from the First Year board).
    TIA

Welcome Judy to the 1-4 forum. I'm not sure if it would be a waste, it would depend on your comfort level. I used to run in everytime I heard a bump, and now I only go running if someone is crying hard because then they may be really hurt. The only reason I would see it being a bad thing is that if they do fall or get hurt, you aren't there anyway, only thing is that now you'll see it happening. :pardon: Good luck with your decision.

Well, the idea would be to keep an eye on them and head them off at the pass if they start to do something crazy, like climb on the dressers by giving each other a boost or crawling under the cribs and getting into stuff they shouldn't. If I go and interrupt them to check on them, they get needy and I have to stay to play, so if they are playing quietly I want to let them be but still know that they aren't getting into stuff they shouldn't.

We have Summer video monitor (color) that is hand held for outdoor and etc. You can get them at BRU store. We brought the 2nd video camera (thru ebay) because the package only included 1 video. We used both of the camera onto the crib for now. When my son move into his own room, we'll move them. We are thinking of buying the 3rd video monitor for the family room because the kitchen is on the off where I get tired running when I am in the middle of cleaning something up. When we do finish the basement in the near future our 3rd video will go down there. We are a deaf parents and can't imagine without them! We had some fun time recording them from their crib! I can't wait to show them when they get a bit older.

    Good Luck!

I can't live without mine and I'm not sure when I'll stop using it. Not a waste at all!

    I love mine!!!
I am also paranoic about every single noise, and I always think they are trying to go out of the bed, which didnt happen yet.
So I really like to know what they are doing.
    GET IT. :)

We still use ours. I use it mainly to see where they are when they should be in bed. I highly recommend it for peace of mind.
