are baby swings worth it...i was looking into the fischer price lil lamb swing but it's sooo expensive...are they really worth it and will they work with babies under 8lbs???

we have 2 of the woodland animals swing/rocker but they have to be big enough to hold their heads up for it. so i'm just wondering if i should get one of the other types of swings.

i think swings are totally worth it. there are many days that i wouldn't have made it through without my swings...

you should look on craigslist or ebay for some cheap options. i had the small portable travel swings and they were perfect for my preemies. i sold them on craigslist for 15.00 a piece, so you should be able to find a bargain. and the covers are machine washable so you can clean them well before letting the babies use them.

I totally think the swings are worth it! We started with one of the graco swings that had the vibrate option also. That seemed to be the only thing they would sit quietly and sleep in, so we ended up buying a second. They took every nap in the swings until they were 6 months old. However, if the vibrate option was not on, they would fuss. So, mine preferred to swing and vibrate both. Also, my DD was less than 5 lbs when she came home from the hospital and I didn't use it for the first couple of weeks, but probably when she got up to about 6 lbs - same with my DS.

Yep, I think they are totally worth it. We had 2 of the Fisher Price cradle swings that swung side to side and then you could turn them when they got older to go front to back. A total lifesaver.

Another person who thinks swings are totally worth it. I would swaddle my babies up very tight and put them in their swings and they'd sleep like angels.

I borrowed a travel swing from my neighbor b/c I wasn't sure if the boys would like them. Jake LOVED it and spent a lot of his time in it even a bit after 4 months. My boys didn't weigh 10lbs until 3 months so I think they would be fine.

I have the Fisher Price Aquarium Travel swings for my girls. The travel ones were cheaper around $60 something. I took a receiving blanket, rolled it up and put it around their heads. My girls were around 6-7 lbs when i first put them in there. They loved them then and now. Between them and the bouncy seats I don't know what I'd do. And I was going to get one but I'm glad I have two of them.

Eve was 4#5oz when she came home and I immediately used the swing. It was a life saver! Swaddle and swing!

I have the little lamb swing and LOVE it!! We only have one right now so the babies take turns in the swing. We swaddle and then put them in the swing. Our babies are under 8lbs. and sleep so good in the swing. The little lamb swing is SOOOO soft and when I turn on the mobile and music the boys just stare up at the mobile.

We are thinking about getting another, but didn't know how long we will use the swing. How long do LO's use their swing??

good tip on the receiving blanket around the head, i had forgotten that i had to do that with DD because she had a super floppy head.

and my LOs used their swings until they were about 7 months old. they wouldn't nap in there past 5.5-6 months, but they still enjoyed them.
