I want to buy a baby sign language dvd, but I don't know which...

I was spending waaay too much time reading reviews on Amazon when I realized that my best reviewers are already my friends---on Twinstuff!

Let me know what has worked for you, which you enjoy better, which are more worth my time and money...

    Thanks, Moms!!!

Our boys did well w/ ST- it amazed me how much they picked up! It might not be immediate, but they really do soak it in. One night we were eating dinner and they were listening to a little kiddy CD- and the song BINGO came on, They started making the sign for "Go" when they'd hear BINGO! And that was one sign I never personally worked with them on- it was all from the DVD!

I don't know about those DVDs - just wanted to let you know you can do it without DVDs too! I just checked out Acredolo's book (Baby Signs) from the library and started signing with the babies. Worked great, and cost $0!

We used regular Signing Time, started out with Vols 1-3. I don't think the Baby version was out when they were babies, we started around 10 mos, and they did fine, the DVD's held their attention. The Baby Einsteins that do have signing, I wasn't all that impressed. They watched them, but didn't pick up the signs the way they did from Signing Time.

The boys ADORE Rachel on Baby Signing Time. They beg to watch it several times a day (their limit is once), and they seem to pick up and use at least one new sign every time it's on, though they definitely have favorites.

We had the baby einstein one and they loved it so we bought the baby signing time dvds and they love love love love those. DD has started picking up signs just from watching the video and both DD and DS sign 'baby signing time' and run to the tv when they want to watch the video. We have since expanded and have all 4 of the baby signing time dvds and there is not a day that goes by that they don't ask to watch. I tried to put the baby einstein version in a few weeks ago and they were totally uninterested. So my vote is baby signing time all the way!!

eta: i don't let them watch every time they ask b/c then we'd watch 20 times a day, once is their limit (unless its a really bad day and then its twice ;) )

We also used Acredolo's book to teach signing. My kids were not into videos at that age, and so it was easier to just learn the background behind signing, and then incorporating it into our daily life.

We also used Acredolo's board books for babies. They show real pictures of babies using the sign, next to a real object. The kids learned all of their signs pretty much from those books. And we never had to watch one video!

My girls LOVED the baby Einstein one. We still watch it from time to time. They caught on to the signs really quickly and loved the little character that was on it. Plus it has Marlee Matlin on it doing the signs along with little kids. I think it's really neat!

We started at 10 months the Baby Signing Time DVD's and my kids loved them! We also watched to the rest of Signing Time series once we knew they liked these. Within 1 week, my DS started signing "milk" and my DD first signed "more" a week or so after that. At one point they knew 50 signs prior to them speaking, and then I lost count. Signing is one of the best things we did for them when they were that young. I think it is great you are looking into this.

BTW, I just pulled out my Baby Signing Time DVD's and CD's to list on Ebay today. I have volumes 1 and 2. Let me know if you are interested in buying them. They are in great condition.

Ditto this. We just use the signs that apply to our life (milk, eat, pee, all done), and they've picked it up just because I use the signs all the time.

We LOVE Baby Signing Time. We have all 4 of them and they are worth their weight in gold around here. Our kids enjoy them and are also very good at signing, mostly thanks to the videos (I'm pretty proficient in ASL but often too busy to free my hands to sign as much as I'd like to). The songs are very catchy and not too terribly annoying! :)

I've never seen the Baby Einstein Sign Lang video, but I do know that I was not a fan of the other Baby Einstein videos. They were not impressive to me, and were very annoying. Just my personal opinion!

I'm a deaf Mom....my twins love Baby Signing Time and then they are moved up to varies of volumes. Because this ST is more common with sign language.

We have nine volumes of the regular Signing Time (not the baby version, which wasn't out when my older DD was a baby) -- started it at 8 months or so with all three kiddos, and everyone has loved them. Nadia took to signing quickly, and eventually was signing entire sentences.

My younger two have been slower to learn, but we've kept at it, and they are mesmerized by the videos and the songs. Karina will now watch in anticipation, and sign whatever the *next* sign is on the video, before it comes up.

Kevan is somewhat behind, but he is finally catching on -- and believe it or not, his first sign was "thank you" -- how funny is that?

Anyway. LOVE these videos, and the songs are great! You can find them in sets on Ebay for cheaper than on Amazon.
