we had 2, one at 25 weeks and the other at 26 weeks. the one at 25 weeks was thrown by my mom and we had a couples shower at 26 weeks.

i recommend having it early, sometime in your second trimester so that way you can enjoy and participate in it. once you hit the 3rd trimester it gets really hard to be mobile and comfortable.

so if you can the earlier the better!! :)

I am having 1.1. I am having a baby shower thrown by friends next week. I will be 32 weeks. This is my second and 3rd child so I don't need much but they reason since I am having 2 this time around, I need something. Tomorrow, my coworker set up a cake party (no presents) during lunch time.

For my twins, I had one around 28 weeks. My mother and sister threw it for me.

This time around, it was technically my sister's shower. We had it at 29 weeks, and me and my mother threw it.

I know some people say that family isn't supposed to, but I honestly have never been to a shower where family hasn't thrown it.

I do agree to do it earlier than you would think to if it was a singleton pregnancy ... first, you never know what could happen, and how early the babies could show. And second, you want to be comfortable and able to enjoy it a bit!!

I had one hosted by my friends at 26 weeks. My employees are actually having one for me in a couple weeks, I will be about 33 weeks then. I should still be fine, obviously when people are offering to throw you a shower you can't be TOO demanding on when they have it but if you can, push for sooner than later. At 26 weeks I looked plenty-enough pregnant and it was really nice to have an idea of what stuff I still need to buy. My back was really killing me at my first shower and it has only gotten worse since then. You could be put on bedrest... etc etc. So during 2nd trimester is really better!

I had my shower at 29 weeks. :good: Perfect timing as I wasn't too big yet or tired and I was very noticably pregnant. It was a fun time for me. My mom and MIL threw it for me but I planned everything for it because I'm that way. I was scared they would do something I didn't want or liked. :pardon: But it ended up being a surprise because they switched the date on me.

I had one at 20 weeks thrown by my family. We only did it that early because we had to fly home to Colorado (we live in Hawaii) and my husband had a deployment coming up at 22 weeks. He will be back around 30 weeks, so I think we are going to plan one for here for our friends since they keep asking if we are having one. That one we will probably do both sexes.

We didn't have one but this is babies #4 and #5 for us. Our friends did get together and brought a huge load of diapers and wipes to our house so we did kinda have a diaper shower.

I had mine at around 30 weeks. I wanted to make sure it was past 28. I gave birth at 34 weeks. My Mom and my Sister hosted with the help of my close friends.

My shower was scheduled for when I was to be 28 weeks 1 day, and my girls decided to make their grand entrance the day before, so I didn't get to go. Thankfully we decided from the get go that we were going to have more of a Co-Ed Baby Bash/BBQ, so hubby stepped in for me. From what I hear it was wonderful!

My first shower was at 28 weeks & was PERFECT time wise :good: That one was thrown by my friends ~ my 2nd one (my aunt threw it) was at 34 weeks & I was so so tired :lazy: and big. I had one more at 35 weeks (my husbands side of the family) and we ended up having it at our house since I was on bedrest at that point. Not as much fun!!

My advice is the earlier the better!!! Enjoy!!!

I had 2 showers--one was about 7 hours away where we used to live (and still have family) at about 22 weeks and one was local at 30 weeks. That was the last time I was in the car for any length of time (the road trip for the 22 week shower) as it just got too uncomfortable to ride for any length of time. The timing of the first one was perfect. By the time the second one came around I was already soooo tired and huge! Definitely have one early if you have a say in timing. My SIL planned the far away one and friends planned the local one.

This is our first (and last!) pregnancy, but we aren't having a shower or a registry.

They are great for some people, just not me. I attend the things out of politeness and put on my party face when I go.
If there is a surprise shower I'm forcing the hubby to go to it instead of me. He used to plan all the bridal, baby, and partys at a previous job. I doubt anyone will try since we are too darn busy with weekly dr appts, work, and the house.

We've basically bought everything we need except bottles, diapers, lotions, and the kit with all the little stuff for nails, nose, tylenol, etc.

I only wish that a baby shower for your second was acceptable because I could use a few more things for the twins. We have things for Grifyn, but we don't have 2 of anything! Plus, two more car seats would be nice. Ho hum....i'm SURE we will make due though.

I agree with a PP in that you should have it in your second trimester because that way you will be a joy to be around! HAHAHAHA!

My friends from work threw me a non-traditional couples party/shower at about 25 weeks - it was evening and everyone except this expecting mom enjoyed special drinks. It lots of fun. My sister and good friend held a non-traditional lunch for me and my girlfriends/moms/etc. at 28 weeks. I was a bit more uncomfortable but loved spending this time with friends and family.

Neither was too much of a typical baby shower - more just casual gatherings. We had a blast. I had regular showers with my ds, and they were fun, too. We probably wouldn't have had these, except after ds we were done having children and gave away all of our baby stuff. :umm: Who knew????

Great question!!! I was just thinking about this ... I decided that I'm going to throw my own shower, so I'm hiring a planner to help out the day of to run the games and set up. The tentative date is at 29.5 weeks so I'm right on track with you ladies. Thanks!

We unfortunatly wont' be having one this time around as they are #2&3... I don't believe in throwing them myself and can't ask a friend/family to throw one for us.... I might just do a "meet the babies" BBQ after they are born..

I was hoping someone would throw me a shower seeing as I'm having twins, but being the second pregnancy I guess nobody thought I needed it. Oh, well. The people at my husband's work though chipped in and bought us about 1000 diapers and $200 in walmart gift cards for formula in case we need it. That was really nice and very much appreciated.

We had my shower at 27-28 weeks along. My mom wanted to do it about a month later than that but I talked her out of that. Glad I did, I enjoyed the shower and was definately pregnant enough. When my mom originally wanted to have the shower I would have given birth to my girls 5 days later! We had the shower at my house to make things easier and it was not a suprise. My mom and sisters did most of the work and my MIL and SIL helped.
