How many weeks were you when you had your baby shower?

I am thinking I may have mine when I am 28 weeks, possibly 29 weeks. Everyone I know (who have singletons, not twins) thinks I'm crazy and that is too early. But I just want to be prepared!

I had mine right at 28wks and am glad I did. As it was, I was already on hospital bedrest. I think most suggestions I've read on here is to have the baby shower(s) before 30wks just for energy and being comfortable.

People have to remember twins are different than singletons. I would say that is a good time. Mine was scheduled for 30 weeks, but I didn't make it that far. So we had it the day after they came home from the NICU (it was planned for the day before they came home, but they came home earlier than expected).

Mine was scheduled for when I would have been 28 weeks 2 days. I went on Hospital bedrest at 25 weeks, and my girls were born at 28 weeks 1 day. So I missed my shower, but my DH turned it into a Baby Bash/ Birthday Celebration. From what I heard, everyone had a great time. Its really hard with multiples because you really just never know....

I had mine at 28 weeks and then my second one at 31 weeks and let me tell you, I almost didn't go to my second one. I WAS HUGE! I felt terrible and it was so hard for me to move even at that point. Everyone is different but I felt pretty bad even after my first one, I had a hard time bending down to open my presents and I was actually sore the next day. So I think that it's fine to have it that early.

I didn't have mine until I was 34 weeks, and I was miserable. 4 days later I had the girls. Did I mention I was MISERABLE? I so wish it had been earlier.

My sister only decided to throw me one last weekend. She only told everyone about it yesterday (Fri) and it's on Sunday. LOL. I dont expect everyone to come, or buy me anything. It will be just nice to have something on, when normally I am moping around.

    Thanks for the input! :)

I was totally thinking I DO want to be comfortable - so earlier is better. Plus, you never know and that is what I TRY to tell people and then they just either give examples of 2 people they know who went to 38 weeks or something or tell me to focus on the positives <_< Which I am, I just like to be prepared! :) So I'm glad I'm not totally crazy!

I had mine at 26wks 2days. It was good for me. I was still uncomfortable and it was really hard to open gifts around my belly (I was measuring 37weeks).

Twins and singletons are completely different. It's typical to have a twin shower at least a month- 2 months before you would have a singleton shower because of many factors, there is mommies comfort, possible bedrest, babies born earlier..etc

Mine was at 29 weeks and 6 days. I was feeling good. I was invited to a surprise shower for DH at his company at 33 weeks and 3 days - definitely moving slower at that point and feeling more tired, but doing well. I had false labor at 34 weeks and 2 days and was on restriction for 12 days (although still getting out a little during that time ;) ). At nearly 37 weeks I get out and about plenty, but you never know what to expect later in pg. From my own experience, I would say earlier is better. I think you're right on track with wanting it earlier rather than later.

    Hi,

I had mine at 28w3d, and I'm so glad I had it then because the past two weeks since then have brought much more discomfort! Your body changes so drastically at the end, so do what YOU think is right and comfortable, and if anyone has a problem with it, tell them to give you a call when they're in their third trimester with twins and then they can judge you! :p

I wanted mine early and had it at 26w5d...I went on bedrest at my 27 week apt. just 2 days later. I was GLAD that I had the shower when I did. Go for it early!

Ours was when I was 33 weeks 3 days. I had the girls 6 days later. I wish I would have had it a lot sooner.

Whoa, I guess I am the early bird. I am having three in a row starting on the 17th of November. I will be 23 weeks. So I will have mine at 23, 24, and 25 weeks. We have a wedding on dec 8th and with the holidays we just decided early rather than never!

I had mine at 34 weeks and was in labor during it! I would suggest having it by 32 weeks! My little ones made thier arrival that night!

I had mine when the twins were 10 months old! It was planned for around 31 weeks, but mine were born at 27.4. When I called my sister from the hospital she immediately started talking baby shower plans and I had to cut her off to tell her NOT to send out the invitations.

So, I would vote for earlier rather than later.

I am not having mine until 34 weeks!!! My sister's shower is this coming weekend and there are a hundred other things going on between now and Christmas. So that was the soonest we could have it  Oh well. I hope I am able to attend it :p

Mine was at 32 weeks and I was MISERABLE too!!!! I didn't even want to go. I tried to get my DH to go without me - ha-ha!! It was right at the turning point from "okay,I'm getting bigger" to "okay, there really is no more skin or belly button left to stretch!"

I am not having a baby shower and as far as I know noone is planning a surprise one for me lol. I know a friend of mine is planning on buying the pram for me. My mum and my sisters will be giving me things. But as far as an actual baby shower event I have no intentions of having one.

I didn't read the other responses but 28 / 29 weeks is the perfect time! I had mine at about 25 weeks actually and I still felt great and enjoyed it. I ended up delivering at 30 weeks and was glad we had it so early! Most people have no idea how hard a twin pregnancy is and how likely it is that you'll deliver early. Don't listen to them!

    hey there...

we are having our 1st family shower on Dec 2, I'll be 24 weeks, and we're having the 2nd family shower at our home on Jan 13, I'll be about 31 weeks...

my OB basically told me to schedule a shower I have to travel for latest at 6 months, and also that I should have finished all my multiples classes and child birth classes by about 7 months...so I'll do that.

I had mine at 31 weeks which seemed perfect to me. It gave me enough time to buy all of the remaining things on my registry which hadn't been purchased. Good luck!
