Since I have 11 month old twins it gets expensive to buy the can of Gerber wagon wheels or yogurt melts. The puffs I usually use off brand or feed cheerios does anyone know of any recipes. I've checked the wholesome baby website. Also any uses for Baby cereal I have a ton. Thanks in Advance

Me too! I posted about needing some ideas for baked goods type of things with fruits or veggies in them on the Cooking forum, and got some ideas. I did make some pumpkin pancakes and he liked them. But yeah, I'd love to know how to make baby crackers and that kind of thing.

The book Super Baby Food tells you how to make crackers and such.

I can tell you some finger food meals I've been making ever since DD decided she was DONE with me feeding her:rolleyes: I had to figure out how to cram in the veggies some other way, and she doesn't like picking up dices very much. I made these up myself so I don't have exact measurements...

    Bread/Veggie Strata:
Cut or rip whole wheat/multi grain bread into cubes and cover a baking dish. Puree or dice some veggies (I used broccoli and carrots last time and it was a hit) and mix with the bread. Beat 4 (or more depending on the size of the dish) egg yolks with a little milk and any spices you like to use (we use garlic). You can pour the egg mixture over the top or mix it in (I mixed it), and then sprinkle parmesan cheese on top. Bake at 350 until it's solid, about 20 minutes or so. I froze it in large squares and then I heat it up in the microwave and chop it into small cubes. It's a great nutritious finger food. I got the idea because mine like to eat bread cubes soaked in anything!

    Sweet Potato/Carrot/Squash Pancakes
Not real pancakes, potato pancakes, but healthier. If you have a food processor with a grater, grate a couple of sweet potatoes, some carrots, maybe a little squash (not too much b/c it's so soft), mix it with an egg yolk or two, and add about 1/4 cup of flour to get it to a decent consistency. Fry them on a skillet. Again, I froze a bunch of them and I just heat up one or two and cut it into finger food cubes.

Other finger foods that have been a hit around here are ripped wheat tortillas (with or without melted cheese), omelets (yolk only, with purees or dices sauteed veggies), toast cubes dipped in applesauce or any other fruit purees, chopped fruit, shredded cheese...but I'm making all of my own baby food and DD won't let me feed her anything anymore so all of the finger food we use is trying to hit food groups! We also use cheerios. Hope some of this helped!

I just remembered another recipe I was going to try. It's for nutragrain bars. I was going to substitute fruit puree for the preserves and skip the almond extract. I haven't tried it yet, but it sounds good. Mine love the regular nutragrain bars, but they get expensive, too! I also make banana blueberry pancakes once a week and they love them!

    Fruit and Grain Bars
1 Cup Butter or Margarine -- Softened
    1 Cup Brown Sugar
    1 Cup Whole Wheat Flour
    1 Cup All-Purpose Flour
    1 1/2 Cups Oats
16 Ounces Fruit Preserves -- * See Note
    1 Teaspoon Almond Extract

Cream margarine and sugar. Add dry ingredients. Mix well. Add almond extract. Press half of crumb mixture into greased 9 x 13 pan. Spread with preserves. (*Use Strawberry, raspberry, peach or other favorite). Sprinkle with remaining crumb mixture. Bake at 350* for 20-25 min. Cool and cut into bars.

Wow, mamabee, those recipes sound awesome! I'm excited to try :)

Finger foods for mine, I do cheerios, sweet potato pancakes, french toast sticks, toast with all sort of stuff on it, vegetables, fruit, cheese, pasta, meat, beans, etc.. They won't eat from a spoon anymore, so everything I give them is in finger food form.
