Baby portraits

im a picture freak.. so i had them done in the hospital..

then 5 days at sears.. good thng because they are getting so big..

then i have done every birthday, easter adn christmas since...

im kinda anal about it..

i may slow down after their three.. or not

 

Yep I'm one of the crazy ones too!! We got the hospital picture and have been taking them to JCPenney once a month on their monthly "birthday". I give 5x7's to my parents every month but everyone else gets the big pictures at 3,6,9 and 12. If you do decide to do it often, JCPenney, Target, (maybe Sears too) have great coupons all the time in the Sunday paper or in the Target flyer. When we get the pictures done on the little months, as I call them (any month but 3,6,9,12), it only costs us around $13 for an 8x10, 3 5x7's, and about 20 wallets.

My advice (after already doing this 10 months in a row) don't wait for the perfect shot. There is one photographer that I don't like to get because she gets too posey with the girls and they just don't have the patience for that. Get what you can right away because if they get cranky, you will miss the opportunity. We finally learned early on to give them a car nap and to feed them just prior to the shoot and they would last about 10 minutes, enough to get a couple of decent shots.

 

We did 3,6,9,12 months for pics. But if I could do it all over again I would do newborn 3,6,12. I have their hospital pic but I wish I got newborn prof pics.

I get them done a lot too! Thier first one was at 1 month and I am so glad I did bc they are my favorite pictures ever! Oh ok now I am gonna show them off.....

those pics are SOOOOOOOO cute!!!

 

in the hospital, then 10 weeks, 6 months and one year.

I've not had them done now for two years though ahhh terrible, I have to do it soon

My husband takes our kids professional photos (he has all the pro equipment and loves to do it) and he took our son's on day 12, would have been the day he came home from the hospital but he was in NICU for 10 days and we moved the day he came out. We don't like the hospital picture at all, we only bought 1 8x10 of it because they were pricey and we knew we were going to take his pro ones when he got home.

The twins we will take their picture when they come home and then at 3 months, 6 months, 9 months and 12 months, and of course just whenever we feel like it.

 

We had our first ones done at 2 months exactly ... Valentine's Day

 

oh.. those were just my professional ones..

i took.. snapshots every month for the first year..

then started with video..

 

We had them at 2.5 months, but they weren't really smiling too much yet, the ones at 3.5 months were way better, because the babies were much more responsive and smiling. I'll have them done at 6 months as well. We go to JC Penny. It's so cheap, I highly recommend it! Wish we had newborn, but they went straight home from the NICU, so I never really pushed it.

 

With my Dad being a professional photographer, we get them done quite often. But we have big photoshoots every two months. I don't think you can have too many pictures of them, they change way to fast. I just run out of wall space!

 

I guess I'm the only slacker around here. Our first portraits were at 3.5 months. We haven't had any since, but will around 7/8 months and then at a year. After that, we "try to" every year. My first DC didn't get any portraits at 2, poor child. I have a ton of digital pics, though. Gathering "virtual dust" on my hard drive.

 

So far - We did one at the hospital, 3 weeks, 2 months, and 4 months. We had a studio do the 3 week one which turned out wonderful, but expensive. I have used JcPenney's for the 2 months and the 4 months. The photgrapher there is great and has caught some great shots. I plan to get them done at 6 months, 9 months, and then a year. I will probably slow down after that point.

We haven't had any done yet, although we've done a TON at home. Literally thousands! I'm nuts about that! My absolute favorite picture is the one we did for their announcements and it looks professional to me!

We are going very soon though! Now, Christmas (8 1/2 months) and a year is what we are shooting for!

I had mine done at 5 months, but wished I would have done them earlier.

 

First portraits were at 2 months, then at 5 months, 7 months, 9 months and tomorrow we are going for 1 yo!!!!!
