Hi , i am sure there ha ve been posts about monitor preferences but I can't find them.

I would like to know what FEATURES and MODELS you all like. I hve a spli tlevel house and got really used to the babies and I staying on the ground level for jus about everything. Landry, naps, play time, soaps (my little piece of sanity) and even night time sleeping. Well now we ar beginning to have naps upstairs in the nursery but I need to be down stairs during the day. I jsut can't figur out what kind aof monitor to get. I am drawing a complete blank.

Is video necessary? DO you get interference from other peoples phones and monitors? HELP.please, and thank you   :D

We don't have video monitors but I wish we did! That would save me from waking them at times!! I have the Fisher Price Lights and Sounds monitor. It has several channels so we can change it if we get interference but we have never had an issue with it. It tends to get a little scratchy out in the backyard, but it still works fine.

I have experience with 3 monitors: FP lights and sounds, Sony Baby Call NTM 910, and Evenflo Whisper Connect Tria.

FP: Works okay, but it is static-y. We leave the volume down and just look at the lights. Has 2 receivers.

Sony Babycall 910: Wonderfully clear. Has some neat features: voice activated option (only makes a noise when your baby makes sustained noise), rechargeable battery to you can carry it around (battery lasts forever), 27 channels to assure interference-free sound. I think it's water resistant, too. Cons: only 1 receiver.

Evenflo WhisperConnect Tria: My current favorite. It's pretty clear, has 2 receivers and has one feature we can't live without. Each receiver has two buttons on it. Press and hold the baby button and you can talk to your child in their room. This feature is AWESOME for a toddler or pre-schooler (you can tell them you're up and on the way or you can tell them they need to lay down and close their eyes, etc). The other button you can press and it works like a walkee-talkee to the other parent unit. We've used this before too, when my husband is downstairs and I need him to bring something up with him.

I don't have any experience with video monitors. I think they're cool, but personally wouldn't buy one unless it were hard wired. Anyone nearby can pick up that monitor's signals and watch your child in his room. Too creepy for us. Even if you don't have your receiver on, the transmitter is still sending signals out.

we have the video monitors for twins and I love them for the video part but we hav a lot of interference with them in certain places..like out on our patio..we also have to find specific places in the house that they can be placed without intereference..that's the only gripe I have about them

we have the fisher price personal connection monitor and it's great. We have wireless phones and wireless network, so we wanted something that didn't interfere. These work real well and we use them in two different rooms with multiple hand sets.

We have the MobiCam 70001 system. Here is the link. We have 2 cameras and 1 monitor and you have the option of connecting your monitor to your TV. It's a very simple system. You just have to plug it in. We do experience some interference so the channels are set to 1 and 3. I really like these cameras because it has night vision and sound. The pictures are very clear and there is also a motion detector option. We have a 2 story house and I found it very helpful when the babies were younger. It made it very convenient and we didn't have to run up and down the stairs all the time. I still use it at night to monitor them and I sometimes put the cameras in their playroom so that I can "watch" them from the kitchen. HTH! :)
