So yesterday morning the babies officially switched from breastmilk and little formula to solely formula.
And I don't remember the exact time my baby girl last pooped but it was sometime yesterday meaning it has been at least 24 hours. Her stomach is a tad harder than normal and she has been incredibly, incredibly fussy tonight and she is usually very, very good.
She is only 2 1/2 weeks old and I am really worried. I'm going to call the Dr. in the morning but am wondering if there is anything else I can do.
    She is passing gas though.

HELP! anything I can do for her?

Dont start to worry until its been a couple of days... DS didnt poop for like 4 days at that age and the Dr said that some babies just dont go that often. Now he goes maybe once a day or every other day..

You can try thinning out the formula... Like maybe 2.5 oz of water for one scoop..

Sometimes it is the content of Iron in the formula. Any chance you have any stored breastmilk left? Good luck. Try also massaging her tummy.

Poor girl. I think switching will cause her to just need some time to work it all out. If she goes a few days you should call. While it's normal for a breastfed baby to go a few days a formula fed baby does experience constipation and that needs to be helped by mom. Formula is hard on their little systems at first it take s a bit to work it out. I'm sure everything is fine and there are lots of remedies if not.

Totally normal. Some babies go 10 whole days w/o pooping. Mine go every 3 or 4 days and it's fine. I was WORRIED at first but talked to Ped and it's totally normal especially for formula babies. Don't sweat it. It will all even out :) Plus, their pooping drops off at about this age. Mine were going 5 times a day until they were five weeks and from then on-- once a week or so!!

I agree with pp and that it probably isn't anything to worry about until it has been 2-4 days (that is what my ped said and my kids were formula fed). Now if she does poop and seems to be straining and it is hard, then she might be constipated. My DS had problems with this and we would periodically add dark karo syrup to his bottle (at the peds recommendation) and it worked like a charm.

mine were every other day poopers for a while - freaked me out the first few days but once they settled it didn't seem to bother them...

I wouldn't worry, mine were bf at that point in time and anytime I had to give them formula they sometimes wouldn't poop for almost a week! It really isn't that abnormal for them to not poop everyday. When you were giving them breast milk, that's a lot easier for them to digest so they are going to poop more often. Good Luck I hope your little one gets some relief.

My DD is formuLA fed. She was pooping once a day and screaming when she pooped and it would look like a hard rock in her diaper. Now I mix up her formula once a day(28 ounces) and just add 2 ounces more water so instead of 28 ounces it is 30. Her poops are now runny like they should be and she has a couple a day now. So I would suggest the extra water. It worked for us.

Its normal. Some babies (formula drinkers) go 3x a week, while BF babies can go once a week, and that is considered normal.

My DS has not gone in 48 hours. I was told to try karo syrup with some water in a bottle, I have not tried it yet since right now, she seems fine.

the only thing about adding extra water to the formula is that it messes with the nutrient content and they may not get the iron and nutrients they need...you may be better off giving her just a half ounce to an ounce of water in a bottle between feedings (not too close to the next feeding as you don't want her to not be hungry)...

    thank you everyone!

She took a tiny poop at 5AM this morning. And looks like she feels a LITTLE better!
I was just worried because they were pooping 3-4 times a day on breast milk.

Sometimes Jack my DS won't go for two days or so, but when he does watch out. WOW! I think it's totally normal.
