No. Lots of moms have skipped cereal because their babies didnt like it or the texture. Just keep offering the veggies or try mixing it with some fruits.

I'm also dealing with this right now. DS doesn't seem to like anything and wont even open his mouth. I've tried rice, oat, squash, peas and sweet potatoes. DD seems to have taken to some of it, but DS wont budge. I haven't tried fruit yet as I wanted them to have veggies first. I'm getting worried. It doesn't look like he'll take anything.

have you tried oatmeal? Mine really like oatmeal - and when they weren't too big on carrots, I mixed it with oatmeal and they loved it.

I have to agree and say that plain cereal isn't very tasty. Try mixing it up with some fruit or try the different varieties such as barley, oatmeal, museli, etc.

I have agree with pps...mine were not fans of the rice cereal and much preferred oatmeal.

Remember food for right now is just for practice so don't stress about it. If they eat it, great, if not, they're not going to "starve" so long as they are still drinking their formula or bm.

I too had the same situation and agree w/the above PP's. Mine hated rice cereal and were ok with oatmeal but definitely not enthusiastic about it. Now I mix the oatmeal with the fruit or veggie "of the day" and they eat it right up!

Okay so silly question here. When mixing rice or oat with veg. or fruit, do you mix it with water/formula first or do you just mix the dry with the veg./fruit?

I mix the cereal (rice or oatmeal) with the fruits. I introduced fruits first and they're still adjusting well to the veggies...no biggie. I mix the cereal first and then add in about 1/2 a jar of baby food...mine have been eating like this for a while though. Good luck!

We abandoned cereal pretty quickly. The babies were formula fed, so they didn't need the iron. That stuff is gross! The one thing we did do is thicken fruits with it.

I just put a spoon of the dry cereal in the fruit. I think it would work either way.

Ours wouldn't eat well for months, and now they are both great eaters. Just keep at it, and one day he'll suddenly get it.

What worked for my older kids was using white grape juice, just a little. I get them liking eating the foods and then slowly started using less juice. Eventually they would eat the food as is without the added sweatness. People say "veggies first"!!! or they'll get use sweat and never go back!!! But remember, for bf babies, breast milk is very sweat and the first let down in you milk is a bit sugary. their already use to it!
