So with older DS we started him on cereal around 3 months and fruit/veggie baby food around 5 months and meats a few months after.

With our twins I keep hearing people talk about how to wait later because of the fact that most twins are preemie (ours were 6 weeks early). We asked our pediatrician when to start cereal and he just kind of shrugged and said "oh it's up to you...you'll know when they're ready". Ummm huh? lol

So...how early were your twins? When did you start them on cereal? When on baby foods?

    Thanks!

We have just started last week, my babies are 5 1/2 months old (4 months adjusted). One really took to it, but my other doesnt care for it at the moment so I am not pushing it on her, probably try her again in a few weeks.

We started cereal at 4 months, fruits and veggies at 4.5-5 months, meats at 6 months. You'll know when they are ready

The current recomendation of the AAP is for babies to be exclusively breastfed for the first 6 months of life adding complimentary foods thereafter. HERE is a guide that covers the other things such as grabbing for your utensils, watching you take food from your plate to your mouth, losing the tongue thrust reflex, sitting up on their own etc.
We waited till 6 months with all of my kids. My baby was 18 pounds at her 6 month check when we started feeding her solids.

Most doctors would not tell you to start solids until at least 4 months and, as pp said, the 'official' recommendation/guideline is now 6 months.
If I were you the earliest I would start is 4 months by their adjusted age, and then only if you feel they are needing solids. Otherwise I would hold off until around 5 months adjusted, 6 months actual. Your pedi is probably right in that you will see signs when they are ready for solids.

We started all three of my kids at four months with just cereal. It wasn't something that was scheduled into the day all the time. Some days we got to it, other days we didn't. At six months, I started with veggies, then moved to fruits. I never did meats with my kids until they took table food-and that was at nine months old-when they essentially were off all baby foods.

We started at 5 1/2 mos practicing and I wouldn't say we were really eating a meal of cereal/fruit/veggie until 7 or 8 mos. I had 38 weekers.

Mine were 36 weekers and I started at 4 months with DS and maybe close to 4 1/2 -5mths with DD. She just wasnt ready. he was though, he would eye you wjhile you ate and try to grabe at it and open his mouth. He just showed me MANY signs of being ready for solids

We started cereal (rice & oatmeal) at 6 months old and they would get it once a day for the first month or so - I wasn't very consistent with it though (so they didn't necessarily eat cereal every single day). We got on a more consistent solids schedule by the time they were 8-9 months old.

I've been adding rice cereal to the girls' bottles for about a month now to help with reflux. About a week ago I started spoon feeding them 1 tbsp. twice a day. Once in the morning and once at their bedtime bottle. We saw the pedi today and she said that as long as no allergies ran in the family I could start baby food. I'm going to try mixing some fruit into their cereal tomorrow. I tried some oatmeal today just to see if they liked it any better than the rice, but it really seemed to upset Livi's tummy. But, I'm not sure if it's the oatmeal or if it's because of the shots. I'm probably gonna keep her on rice for a while longer because she seems to have a very sensitive tummy. She's on Alimentum formula.

I really don't think it's gonna hurt to try some rice cereal. You have to do what's best for you and your children. If you think it's time, try it. If not, then wait a while.
