I am having trouble finding baby food that provides more variety than just peas, carrots, sweet potatoes, squash, green beans. I don't want to do mixed veggies just yet... and even then it pretty much just takes the above and mixes it together. Does any brand sell jars with more variety - ?

I live in Canada and there isn't too much variety other than what you mentioned. It's pretty simple to make your own food and then you can add some variety and different textures as well.

It's been a few months, but offhand I can't think of anything else that wasn't part of a mixture in a stage 2 jar. But there are all the fruits too! Fruits are also much easier (IMO) to make yourself -- just take frozen fruit & dump it in the food processor, and it's not stringy like veggies can be.

I agree with Alden, fruits, don't forget about them! Its easy to get lost in the veggie shuffle sometimes.. but fruits are good for them too and they taste great and add variety. I make most of my baby food and they usualy get some cubes of sweet potatos and squash together, and sometimes I mix those with applesauce. Is there a reason you don't want to mix your veggies yet?

I totally agree with the PPs. Have you thought of doing Brussle Sprouts, Asparagus, Broccoli, Beets. There all easy if you buy them frozen and cook them up. My girls just LOVE these veggies.

We are doing fruits... and I don't have trouble finding variety in that area... I need assistance with veggies and if possible would prefer to buy ready made. Thanks.

I like the Earth's Best Organic line of baby food. They have a lot more variety and taste a LOT better than Beechnut and Gerber. My girls LOVE their spinach & potatoes. But they're not in a lot of grocery stores. I go to my local health food co-op and stock up every few weeks.

Don't discount DIY foods though. It sounds like a lot of work to cook food for the babies, but it's really not that hard. When you're cooking your own dinner, just make a few extra veggies and throw in a food processor. Voila!

Edited to add: Heathly Times organic baby food also offers many different fruits and veggies other than the standard Gerber fare.
