Do your twins watch videos or TV?
If so, how long do they watch?
I let them watch 45 to 1 hr a day. Is that bad?
I have the Baby Monet which they love more than the other few Baby Einsteins I have because it has music throughout. If you know the Baby Einsteins which others are all music?

We have the DVD's, and love them! We have Baby Noah, Baby Einstein, Baby Bach, Numbers on the Run??, and one other that I can't think of right now. I am pretty sure that the only one that doesn't have music is the Number one, because it is geared for an older child. I would check the ages and buy according to that. We watch at least one a day, not sure how long they are, but I don't think that 45 minutes is bad! [IMG]

My oldest has been watching since 4 weeks of age. She still watches occassionally. I tried yesterday with the twins ... not as interested as their older sister (just yet).

The American Academy of Pediatrics states that children under the age of 2 should not watch videos. I am sure that watching a bit now and then would not be harmful, but too much does affect the development of the brain. Toddlers need to be "doing" rather than "watching."

That is what I mean by bad. Thanks Becky707, I'll try and cutdown.

I think the most dangerous types of television programs to let young children watch are ones that involve "quick cuts" or are fast paced. The brain is creating pathways and any program that moves much faster than reading a book or a puppet show is probably too fast. I've never watched Baby Einstein, so I have no clue what it is like. I let my son start watching at age 1 with 1 show a day (Maisy, because he loved the Maisy books and because it was really slow and simple) and I was doing SO well with having a kid who is not a tv junkie until I got pg with the twins and gave up the good fight out of guilt. I figured if I couldn't play with him I should at least let him watch more t.v. He will still play on his activity table and do things on his own, so I guess he's not too scarred...I hope!

ugh!! just read the article. My kids usually watched 1/2 hour video a day. Maybe we should stop.

I know, it's so annoying. Anything that is easy and gives me a break is bad for them. I asked my Mom if I watched TV at their age and she couldn't remember. I bet I did because I am a TV junkie and it is so hard for me to have it off all day long.

Thanks for posting the article. When my DH is home the TV is almost always on, even if he is not watching it. I have tried to tell him it is not good for the babies and he tries to convince me that they like watching his shows. Mostly he is watching sports or car racing which is fast paced and loud. I think my DH has ADHD! [IMG] I am going to show him this article.
