baby does not stay asleep

im at the end of my rope with a LO that will not stay asleep.
he is even having difficulty sleeping at night now! i am beginning to get very frustrated. he cries, the other one cries then i have two screaming babies that i can not soothe at the same time.
i end up leaving them in their swings in front of the tv so i dont lose my mind (which makes me feel incredibly guilty)

is there anything else i can do?

 

:hug: I don't have any suggestions other than what you are doing. If it works I'd keep doing it for now. I don't think being in the swing in front of the tv hurts them.

My oldest daughter was like that. She would only sleep while I was holding her & every time I tried to put her down she would start screaming. Being my first, I really didn't want to do CIO, but she was absolutely the worst sleeper until we gave in & did it. I don't really have any other advice, but :hug: I know it's frustrating!

 

we did a 'mini' CIO and it worked (well it DID work) lol. its how i got them to nap on their own. i drop them in their cribs when they're tired and after about 5 mins of fussing, they fall asleep. except, for the past week or so one LO has been waking up ALL day and even during the night.

 

It could be teething problems, you can try hylands teething tablets, or tylenol or motrin now that they are 6 months. Motrin works better in my opinion, but it does make them sleepy so I usually reserve that for bedtime.

Or....it could be like Tina said, that he's just gotten comfy in your arms and doesn't want to sleep anywhere else. You can try CIO or something similar, or you can give in, buy a sling or something to wear him in, and just try to enjoy it! Unfortunately eventually you will have to do something to sleep train him, it's just a matter of deciding what will work for you.

 

I don't know if it's a 6mo thing, or that my boys are still trying to get over runny noses, but we're having the same problem. I used to be able to put them down, they would wiggle and get comfy, then go to sleep. Now it's like if I don't put them down extremely gently when they're completely passed out, their eyes just pop open and they start crying. I was at my wits end last night after an hour of holding and trying to put Zach down. He wouldn't even let me sit in a chair to rock him. Ugh!

In the end I ended up bringing both boys to bed with me. I needed sleep (as did they) and I didn't have any patience left to try to deal with it. Tonight they seem to be doing a little better so far, but this awake thing doesn't normally kick in until about 3am for us.

I know I didn't offer any sort of help. Just know you're not alone.

 

well last night he slept fine. during the day however, a complete and utter nightmare. it took him SO LONG to get comfy in my arms. he kicks, moves around, whines, etc. then he finally falls asleep. no matter how gently i put him down his eyes open and he doesn't just cry. he screams at the top of his lungs which causes his brother to scream at the top of his lungs. lol. not funny at the moment but it is a ridiculous scream.
