How long did you use (if you did) special soap like dreft for your babies? Thanks [IMG]

We just stopped about a month ago when I ran out and figured it was okay. But we do use "Free" detergent that has no dye or fragrance for the whole family. No reaction.

I never used baby detergent, We use Tide Cold Water and the girls have never had any problems. The way I figure it is my husband and I don't have problems the girls most likely won't. If you feel comfortable try a couple of loads without it and see how your children do. I hope all goes well.

My mom does my baby laundry at her house because I don't have a washer (we send our clothes out) and I bought her Dreft to use.
So when I went over at Christmas I brought my laundry and when I went into the laundry room to throw in the wash I couldn't find the Dreft. My mom said it ran out and she never told me or got around to buying more and their clothes have been washed in regular Tide for the past 3 weeks [IMG]
So far no problems, so I don't think it's a big deal.

We use all free and clear. It isn't as expensive as Dreft and you can use for all of your laundry. I got a huge thing at Sam's Club and it lasts us forever (like 3-4 months).

I've always washed their clothes in All Free and Clear - its cheaper than Tide Free HE (I have a Calypso washer) and Dreft and Ivory Snow actually have more fragrance and other crap than the free detergents - never had a problem!

I still use dreft and still wash the girls' clothes separately from ours. My son would break out every time something foreign would touch him and to this day he has horrible allergies. I am still weary of washing the girls' clothes in anything different.

I have used Tide Free with all of my kids - even my babies
who are scheduled to arrive in 1 week -all of their stuff has
    been washed in Tide Free.

We started with Dreft and then I found Baby All. It's wonderful! About 1/3 the cost of Dreft. We stopped using it when they turned 1, but then started using it again because DH has trouble with detergents and I started using it for our undies... It's great detergent. Now I was all our clothes in it.

So to answer... we still use it and the twins are 2. [IMG]

We stopped at about 6 months old when our Costco started carrying a Free & Clear detergent. At that point, I switched the entire family over to the Free & Clear to simplify laundry time. With this baby, we won't even buy baby detergent and he'll just use the Free & Clear.

We tried Free and Clear, too, but it bothered DHs skin. He'd hate knowing I'm telling you all how sensative his skin is! [IMG] But Baby All worked like a charm for him... I know that's not what this thread is about, sorry Natalie. I guess it just depends on your babies skin if you continue or quit... [IMG]

    Thanks for the responses!
I just ran out of dreft and was debating about buying anymore. My babies are still pretty young. However, reading this post, reminded me what kind of detergent my parents gave us for Christmas (really exciting present I know, but hey, were college students). They gave us all free and clear so I will try that and see what happens. Thanks again! [IMG]

I stopped when my girls were about 3 months old. I use Tide Simple Pleasures the vanilla lavender they seem fine with it.

Slightly OT, but why is it that everyone who USES a baby detergent uses Dreft vs. Ivory Snow?

I'm hooked on Ivory Snow b/c I 'think' back in the twinfant days when I was sleep deprived I remember making a mental note that I liked the scent better than dreft. Anyone have any input? [IMG] (I know you can't tell me what I was thinking a year ago, I meant opinions of your own!)

We started out with Dreft until I saw Baby All at my SIL's house. I never saw it at the store until I was looking for it. I switched because of the lower price. Maybe I'll hve to check out Ivory Snow. [IMG]

Never. I washed theirs with ours, and we used Tide. Now, we have switched to Gain, Joyful expressions. They never had an allergy against detergent.

I've used either Gain HE or Cheer HE with these guys from the get go with no problems. Most babies do great with regular detergent.
