Baby crying when the other gets hurt

This has been happening for the last couple of weeks.. Example: When Rose hurts herself [falling over, bonks her head on the table, hits her mouth too hard on a toy, etc..] Alyssa proceeds to cry like she's also in pain. Then, when Rose is finished crying she's fueled by sissy's cry and they go back and forth for a long time.. or until I interrupt them with a toy and/or take their mind off of crying somehow.

There's no way that one baby can feel the other's pain. Maybe she's just crying cause she feels bad that her sissy got hurt?! It also goes both ways.

Anyone else's ever do this? Or DO?

My guys have just started doing this too. They usually calm down together, and do it quickly, but it gets so loud.

DD1 cried the other day when DD2 was getting blood drawn. As soon as DD2 stopped crying, DD1 stopped too.

When we went for flu shots last month, DD was hysterical for hers and DS started crying with her. Then when he got his own shot, he didn't even cry. He was definitely more upset for his sister than for himself. Mine are obviously fraternal, though, so I think it's more empathy than feeling each others' pain, but who knows?

M always cries when T starts in. Even if it's just "whining". They are fraternal. It's always this way. M crying for T. T rarely ever cries for M; I always find that interesting. M is definitely our sensitive one; she's very emotional even at 5 months old!

They didn't do this when they were that age but if one gets seriously hurt (like a bump on the head) the other will cry! I am sure they just know the difference in tones of each other's cries and feel sympathy. Gotta love the twin bond!

Yes it happens here too. Now that they talk they tell me they are worried about their sister "Oh no! Ana fell down!!!"

My LO's do it too. My DD usually is the fussy one so when she cries my DS gets this sad look onhis face and starts crying too.

Yes, mine still do this. It's just empathy for each other. I work to quickly soothe them. I know I did this as a kid with my bro and sis too, even though we were all singletons. It's natural.

I see mine do that too....but not all the time. What I do see is DS just smiling away at his sister while she's having a fit...go figure :p

They would always trigger each other. The times that were really bizarre was when they were not in the same room and couldn't hear the other and he would cry if his brother was hurt. I just chalked that up to the Twilight Zone.

At least now I know we're not the only ones. It's kinda cute, but really loud. It might always be that way and I'll just have to deal with it ^_^

    Thanks Ladies!
