When did your kids stop eating baby cereal? Mine are 14 months and are losing interest in eating cereal before bed. We are still drinking formula from bottles, they were preemies and will not be 1 yr adjusted until next month. We are eating several solid foods but we are still using the food grinder for most.

    Thanks,
    Rebecca

Mine were on all table foods at 10 months. I do still mix baby oatmeal with their yogurt, mainly to thicken it up so they can eat it with a spoon (versus me having to feed it to them). So they were off straight baby cereal by 10 months, using it only to mix with yogurt after that.

I think we stopped just cereal around 7-8 months and then went to mixing it with yogurt to thicken it up, like the PP. I think we stopped it all together around 12 months. I started mixing other things in their yogurt like wheat germ.

I know that it was pretty early on (before one year). Once they go the taste of other foods they lost interest in their cereals. I never mixed it in with anything else.

Mine are almost two and still have baby oatmeal for breakfast each day. They won't eat regular oatmeal or cream of wheat. We mix the oatmeal with dark karo syrup and pureed prunes to keep them from being constipated as well as adding their vitamin drops. The prunes also flavor the oatmeal for them and they gobble it up. They are not big eaters otherwise. On days they get something else at my mom's house, they end up constipated, so we'll stick with this as long as they'll eat it! The rest of the day is all table foods.

My two usually aren't big eaters either. So I use fresh or frozen fruit mixed in with 1:1 tbl cereal and yogurt. It's sticky enough that it won't fall off their spoon, so they feed themselves and they usually eat it all, plus then half a banana every morning. I've tried giving them regular oatmeal and cream of wheat but they don't like it. So they'll keep eating it until I can convert them.

By 10.5 months the girls were on all table food, they get waffles or pancakes for breakfast now with a sippy of milk. J actually jut got rid of all the boxes of baby cereal not sure why I was holding onto them.

We did it until just a few months ago. Then, I ground up Quaker oats in the food processor and at 15 months I moved them to Quaker Oats right out of the bag. They eat 1/2-1 cup each morning at breakfast. I add wheat germ to DD's since she has constipation issues.

Oatmeal has tons of nutrition in it as long as you aren't buying the sugary packets. That's got soooo much sugar.

We never did baby cereal before bed. But I did stick with the oatmeal for Trevor until around 14 months in the morning for breakfast. Emilie stopped with the baby cereal as soon as she could feed herself, she would rather do it herself.

Mine stopped eating cereal about a month after they started -- at 7 months. They just didn't like it. I do still keep a box around to mix with applesauce when they have diarrhea or vomiting, just to thicken things up a little.

Mine do eat Cream of Wheat and oatmeal and seem to like it a lot (the Cream of Wheat more than the oatmeal). It's part of our regular breakfast rotation.

We just gave it up at 18 months!!! I guess it was a little late but my pedi. told me to keep offering it to them until they refused since it was such a great way to ensure iron intake. We only ate it at breakfast though. Recently, I just got sick of making them a separate breakfast than everyone else so I stopped. But we would probably still be doing it if I hadn't put an end to it.

I still use to thicken up anything that is too runny to spoon feed them, they aren't feeding themselves yet (w/ spoons, can do forks though). If it works for you then why stop?

We stopped around 11 months or so, but I mixed it with their yogurt for a couple of months after that. Once they learned how to feed themselves they just weren't interested in letting me spoon feed them anything. Since they still aren't very good with a spoon, this limits the types of foods I can give them - it's pretty much finger food only and has been for a long time.

My little ones are almost 17 months old and still eat baby oatmeal almost every morning. they love it. i tried regular oatmeal and farina, but they didn't like it at all. so i will keep giving it to them. it is nutritious so why stop if they still like it?

We never really did straight cereal; we always mixed it in with whatever pureed food they were having, so they gave that up around 11ish months when they had moved to all solid food. We did continue mixing it in with their yogurt and fresh fruit every morning until around 20ish months, when they basically were just much more adept with the spoons and didn't need me to thicken up the yogurt anymore. My pedi said to just keep giving it to them as long as they would eat it because it was a good source of iron.

My boys ate it every day until just past their 2nd birthday.
