So we have one of those tubs with a hammock for when they're really small, then an incline on one side and a seat on the other. The boys aren't sitting up yet so I can't use the seat but they're going too big for the hammock. They weigh 16-17 lbs now. I've tried taking out the hammock and just laying them against the incline, but there's this bump in the tub where their bottom is supposed to sit against but they keep scooting themselves over it so the bump ends up under their back (not very comfy). Hope this makes sense. Any thoughts on how to best bathe them at this age?

sit them up with you supporting their weight.......I realize that they cannot sit alone, but with your help, they will be able to sit up enough for the bath.

We had a nice deep sink in the kitchen so I'd use a big bath towel sort of bunched up so they could sit/recline against the side while I supported them. When the twins were babies I bathed my 1 yr old in that sink too! I loved it.

most of the stores, BRU, TRU, walmart target ect sell a big sponge ours was yello in the shape of a bear. (this is the only one I have ever seen) and we used this in our kitchen sink. That or I gave them a bath with me in the tub..

I was able to do this alone taking their bouncy seats in the bathroom with me. When they were done with their bath I wrapped them in a towel and strapped them into their seat. worked out VERY well

I have the same tub--for quick baths in that tub, I just support them with one hand and wash with the other.

The best way for me to bathe them though is to bring them into my big bathtub with me. They LOVE it, I enjoy playing with them one on one, and they are always worn out afterwords!!! I just set a carseat with a towel in it next to the tub so I can set the first one in that when he's finished, get out of the tub myself (much easier when not holding a wriggling slippery baby) and get him dried and dressed and into the bouncy seat while I bathe his brother. Then, brother into car seat, mom outta the tub, dry, dress, rock them both to sleep. :)

We have the same First Years tub. YOu can put a wash cloth on the bottom to help them from slipping down or I also just held them in place with one hand and used the other to do a quick bath.

Ugh! I remember this awkward time with that tub. Honestly, I was so glad to retire that stinky hammock that I was able to throw it out with a smile on my face. I just laid them in the tub on their backs and they eventually got used to it. It won't be long before their sitting up and then the tub works great again. I like the towel suggestion and I've also heard great things about the inflatable bath floats as well.

I think I had the exact same tub you are describing. I just kept scooting them back over the bump. You could try lining the tub with another towel to keep them in place better. Sorry I don't have any other advice. I used that tub until the girls were over 10 months old. GL!

Is it the Fisher Price Ocean Woners one? The weight limit for the hammock is 12 or 15 lb. can't remeber which one. But yup we have the same problem with them slidding over the seat. I am thinking about just laying a hand towel in the tub and filling it with only and inch or two of water. Sounds easier to me. Good luck.

I have one of those hammocks, too, and the bump in the tub also poked into their backs. I actually put the hammock in our regular tub and give baths that way- it works great for me!

We just use the big yellow bath sponge in the bottom of the bathtub. So far this works, but as they are getting more mobile I can see problems coming. Hopefully it will work until they can sit up in one of the bath seats.

I have the ocean wonders one too and have this problem with my wiggly boy. I wash him as quickly as possible and then let him lie in the bottom (feet up in the air, neck resting on the "bump"). After scooting himself down and getting water in his face, Ryan stopped moving off the bump.

We used the yellow sponge they lay flat on until they could sit up. Then I have the Safety first bath rings. THey are great now. It will get easier as they can sit up.

I was just about to post something like this - I have an infant tub and the girls are getting too big for it. Bath time today was a big ordeal with crying and screaming. They want to be either sitting up or face down in the tub - I'm such a mean mom for not letting them be face down in water! They were so mad at me!
Can someone post a link to a good tub for babies that can't sit on their own yet but are too big for the infant tub?

    Thanks :)

I love to bathe with my babies as other PP have suggested. Its great for one on one time and skin to skin. The babies love this. When I bathe them in the hammock bath they cry the whole time. When I just bring them in the tub with me they are so happy.

We have two of these seats. They set in the tub together in them- sure I have to use quite a bit of water to get it up to keep them so they can sit in some- but it is nice that I can bathe them both at the same time, and they don't slip and slide too much in them.

Personally I think all those baby bath things - pads, tubs, hammocks, etc. - are a big waste of money. I have one and only used it once. I just lay a baby in the big kitchen sink and put a rolled up towel under their head for some cushion and to keep their face out of the water. They love it. Or sometimes on the weekends I take them in the tub with me.

It makes total sense to me. We had the same problems. We ended up taking them to the big bathtub and one of us bathed them (we got in the tub with them, and washed one at a time while the other passed them in and out and dressed them). We did it that way until they were 9 months old. We actually both loved when it was bath night. We took turns being the adult in the tub with them, and it was a nice bonding time for us. Now they bathe in the tub together, without us. I still miss our old bath nights.
