Baby B switched back to breach position at 32 weeks- what are the chances he'll turn back around?

I had an u/s 4 weeks ago and both Baby A and B were head down. I had another u/s yesterday at 32 weeks and Baby B has turned himself around and he's back to being breach.

I have an u/s scheduled for 35 weeks to check on the babies and thier positions. My doctor told me that if B stays breach I could opt for a c-section or a vaginal delivery. If I delivery vaginally, we would hope that B would turn around, but that I should keep in mind complications like him not turning around, or positioning himself in vertix position, or there is the chance he could wrap himself in the cord. So, he told me to give some thought to what I might want to do. He said it was up to me.

I'm wondering if anyone had one (or both) of their babies move into the head down position after 32 weeks and if you found yourself in my position, what did you do?

I feel 100% that if B doesn't turn around I'll opt for the c-section.The last thing I want is an emergency c-section, or having to recover from both a vaginal delivery AND a c-section at the same time-especially since I have a 2 year old at home!

    Thanks!

this is exactly what happened to me... Baby B did the switcheroo at the last minute... i was 34 wks, and he never switched back... i had planned on having them vaginally all along, but once this happened he didn't give me the option anymore... after the delivery he told me that he found it easy to turn Baby B in the womb, so it would've probably been a successful vaginal delivery... but that he would never want to take the risk of that not being the case and having to do "both"... I wish it'd happened different for me, but the plus side was that the babies had great apgar scores and no strain during delivery...

I understand your dilema   Both of my twins were breech and I sort of hoped that one would turn around, but in my case he never did. I can't remember exactly when they both were head down but I am sure it was by 32 weeks. But my doc said he could have turned even up until the last minute so they kept doing u/s up until the minute I went in for the c-section. I too was afraid of having to do both vaginally and c-section and I worried about it the whole time. But everything will turn out the way it is supposed to in the end and I decided I would do whatever was safest for my babies be it the c-section, vag/s-cection or whatever else I could do to help them into this world. :)

I know it is tough-I worried through my entire pregnancy, but you have to remember that not all twins are born prematurely and not all end up in the NICU mine were born at 36.5 wks with no complications and both went home with me. Sometimes I think the unknown is scarier than knowing exactly what you are going to plan on doing :D I also had to go into labor on my own (dialated 4cm) before they would do the c-section so make sure you discuss all the details with your doctor so that you know exactly what the plan is.

I think theres always a possibility Baby B could flip back over.. . but if he/she doesnt, I would definitely opt for the C-section. I was in the same position as you, but baby A was the one not cooperating (she had her shoulder blocking the way out), and baby B was head down. So, I pretty much didnt have an option, but they scheduled me early anyway.
I was also concerned at different points in my pregnancy that I may have had the option of doing vaginal and worried about ending up having one vaginally and one Csection, and did NOT want to have both. Im glad I had a scheduled CSection. No surprises, nothing was rushed, I pretty much knew what to expect.
    Good luck. Keep us posted.

I would hold out for a flip... My fingers are crossed for you! ;)

Also, les than 5% of twin births that deliver one twin vaginaly, will have to have the other C-section. .. just some info.

    GOOD LUCK... FINGERS CROSSED!

Both of my babies have been head down since probably 26 weeks or so. Baby B flipped right at 34 weeks to go head up, but ten by last week (35 weeks) he had flipped himself back down to head down. Right now i "think" he's still that way. Good Luck!

I am at 34 weeks. Baby A is head down - has been since forever ?? But Baby B - she keeps switching. Friday she was transverse but yesterday she was head down. Hopefully she will stay that way. But, what are the chances they will schedule me a day to induce ??? Will it all depend on their positions, how I am dilating ?? On one hand, I would just love to know when they are coming (if they schedule a C-section) but on the other, a vaginal delivery would be my preference.

My MFM dr. said that out of all the vaginal twin deliveries he has done he never had to do an emergency c-section with a vertex breech, but with vertex vertex he had to do 5 (he has been delivering twins vaginally for over 20 years). If your Twin A is larger than Twin B and your dr. is comfortable with a vaginal delivery I say go for it. I delivered my vertex/breech twins vaginally. Twin A was 4lbs 11oz and twin B was 3 lbs 12 oz they were born 3 min apart (breech extraction of twin b). I would do it again in a second!! Just get an epidural!!!! :D

My OB told me that if Baby B was breech, they would still deliver vaginally. For them how Baby A was positioned was the determining factor, she was breech the whole time, so we had a c-section.

My Baby A moved to head down finally at 35 weeks and Baby B, the stinker went to breech at 38 weeks. I still went for a vaginal and she flipped to head down as soon as A came out. No problems whatsoever. You still have time for them to flip. I don't know how mine had room, but they did.

    same here
both were vertex and twin b flipped to breech at around 32 wks and stayed that way. i went for vaginal and hoped for the best. all went well they were born 5 min apart.

My girls switched 4 days before birth (38wks 4 days) to breech and transverse from both head down! so I had no choice but to have a c-section! We had a c-section scheduled anyway -because I did not want to chance both kinds of deliveries!
