    Hi ladies,

I am back for some more advice/experience if anyone is willing to share. Today I am 29 weeks. I went for my growth ultrasound and I noticed when the tech was measuring baby b that she is only measuring 28 weeks? I asked and she confirmed this. Baby A had an approximate weight of 3.3 lbs and baby b was measuring 2.13 lbs. I am nervous that she is so far behind. I just want them both to be healthy and can't help but worry. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Also my cervix measured 3.1 today. I have not been able to find the normal length for this gestation.

    Thanks
    Nikki

Are they suspected to be identical? It may just be the difference between babies. Or if not id they could have been conceived at different times. My baby b had IUGR but by 29 weeks they were almost 2 lbs different in estimated weights. Jessy was born at 2lbs 13oz at 34 weeks. Their weighs don't seem to far off norm for 29 weeks

They are just estimates. My girls are ID but were di/di...A always measured behind B but at birth A was the bigger of the 2!!!

Like E's 3 said, ultrasounds are just an estimate. My baby D measured about a week behind rihgt from the start. When they were born, Baby A was 6lbs 9oz and baby B was 5lbs 2oz

Mine changed how far off they would be. I agree, it's an estimate. If the u/s tech doesn't put the little line EXACTLY where it should be, it can be off. If your baby is in a bit of an odd position for the scan, they can be off again. My di/di identicals weren't the same weight in birth. Now at 2 they are 2 pounds different. I think they would tell you if B was measuring behind typically developing babies. It sounds s/he is just a bit more petite than A- which is ok, or as stated, or incorrect given the human error involved in u/s.

Thank you for your replies. They are fraternal. Baby A is a boy and Baby B is a girl. She has always measured a couple days behind but never 1 week. I am just hoping that they are healthy and stay in as long as possible.

My babies are also fraternal and although they measured the same for a long time, when I went in at 29 weeks, 5 days, my baby B (my girl) was 3 lb 5 oz and my baby A (my boy) was 2 lb 10 oz. All that matters is that both were measuring in the normal range. You have to remember that they are two different babies so you can't compare them. My doctor said the only time to get concerned if one drops below the 10th percentile for size. Sounds like your babies are doing great! Try not to worry.
