Babies too small?

I'm worried that our babies are too small for their age. At our u/s on friday, at 34 w 4d, baby a was 4 lbs 15 oz and b was 4 lbs 11 oz. The tech said a was in the 30th percentile; she didn't say about b but obviously it's lower. At our 30 wk u/s a was in the 70th and b in the 50th. But the u/s tech said that their rate of growth is good, and my ob was not at all concerned. She said if we make it to 37 weeks the babies could reach 6 lbs, but that seems like a lot of weight for them to gain in 2.5 weeks, especially when they only gained about 1.5 lbs each in the past month.

I know that u/s estimates are less reliable further on, but don't they tend to be too high rather than too low?

I don't think that sounds all that small. Mine were about that around that time and they were born at 5.11 and 5.15. at 36 weeks 4 days. Also when they are that big it is hard to get accurate measurements because it is hard to get their full head or their full leg measurments. That can throw the weights off. I wouldn't worry especially if the doctors aren't worried.

I think weights can tend to be off but never heard one way in particular, it really varies.

I think the weights sound fantastic! Kayla was born at 36 1/2 weeks weighing 4 pounds 8 ounces, perfectly healthy!

It is generally the case that they pack on the weight in the later weeks since everything else has pretty much formed/grown. No matter what though, I think you are doing just great!

I don't think that they are that small. I delivered at 34wks 3days and mine were 4.15 and 5.6 and had very minimal health issues. I am sure yours are just fine! :)

those weights are fine for that many weeks. you should be happy... and, they will def. gain more weight in the next couple of weeks.

I think that's excellent mine were born at 34w 2days and ds - 4lb.4oz. dd-5lb. 3oz. , I remember their actual weights were actually very close to the u/s weights. Mine didn't have any health problems either. Plus, you're still pregnant!!! Way to go, keep cooking those babies!!!

I don't think thats small at all. Our u/s tech said they were good weights at our 34week appointment today. A was 4lbs 12oz (they did say he's bigger than that, they couldn't get a good measurement of his head b/c he is so low, they said he's closer to 5lbs) and B was 5lbs 5oz.

I don't really know entirely about this, but I have heard that it's harder to get accurate measurements when they are that big. Try not to worry yourself, and stay positive. As long as your doctor isn't worried, you shouldn't be either. Just pat yourself on the back for getting them this far!!

    Good Luck with everything!
