I am at 31 1/2 weeks and had an u/s yesterday. Both of my boys are HUGE!!!! One weighed 4.5 lbs and the other is at 5 even!!!!! I failed the one hour glucose but passed the 3 hour just fine so it's not GD. The dr says I am measuring at 45 for fundal height which is what I was when I delivered my daughter (she weighed 9.3 lbs). Is this weird to anyone? I am concerned because the dr isn't I guess if that makes sense... He thinks I will probably deliver at around 34 weeks based on the size of the boys alone. Has anyone had larger twins and made it to a reasonable date? How was the deilvery? When the u/s tech watched the babies practice breathing they both seemed to be trying. Their heart rate was fine and fluid levels looked good. What do you think???

Well I just know that sometimes u/s can be off. They were way off on my oldest DD, she was 9 1/2 lbs. and they said she would be 7.5-8. So remember they are not 100% accurate. But I would rather them be on the bigger side than the smaller side. Hopefully if you do deliver early due to their size they will be ready. Sounds like a good appt.

sounds like you got great placentas!! I have heard that after 35 weeks the measurements can be off by a lot...but I'm not sure about 31 weeks... Twins do slow down in growth a lot more than a singelton the last six weeks.... But I have heard and read many stories with twins who were born at 7lbs or even 8lbs each... If your body can't handle the growth I'm sure that it will kick them out...and the good thing is that even at 31 or 32 weeks your babies have a pretty good chance of doing well... hopefully you hold them in until 34 or 35 weeks....

P.S. my first dd was 8lbs 1oz...my twins totaled almost 12 pounds...so you can see that my body was able to handle a lot more than 8lbs...so yours might be able to handle a lot more than 9lbs!! And that's not even including the extra weight of placenta plus fluid.... you'd be surprised....

I made it to my scheduled c-section at 38 weeks, 1 day and I delivered good sized babies. One was 7lb, 13 oz and the other way 7lb, 6oz. Just under 16 pounds of baby and I went full-term. Don't worry!!

I also went to full term with large babies. I delivered at just over 38 weeks with one weighing 7 lbs 13 oz and the other 7 lbs 9 oz. I delivered both vaginally, baby A no problem, baby B (the larger of the two) was delivered breech extraction  . They were both healthy & went home two days later. Good luck!

Mine measured 4lbs6oz and 4lbs5oz at 30 weeks, so quite ahead. I had them vaginally (one head down / one breech) at 38w2d and they were both average size singletons (7lbs11oz and 7lbs10oz) and still 12 days early. My oldest was 9lbs2oz.

So it's very possible, however I heard a lot of people who's u/s were estimating much larger twins than they actually were. Mine were both estimated lower 6lbs range at 34 weeks, so they turned out to be pretty accurate.
