Babies' Story

I thought I should share my daughter's experience in birthing her babies. She was scheduled to be induced at 37.4 weeks - went to the hospital on Sunday night (January 28th). They started the pit at 9:00 and she slowly labored all night. They broke her water at 5:00 am - still not much activity. They checked her at 11:30 and she was only dilated to 3.5. She was mightily discouraged. However, they checked her at 1:30 and was was at a 9! They quickly did an epidural - and this might have been unfortunate because she didn't have the sensation to push and couldn't quite get the hang of it. Consequently, she pushed for two hours. Zachary was finally born at 4:08 pm, weighing 5# 12 oz. Isabella was born at 4:25, weighing 4# 8 oz. Each had apgars of 7 and 9 and needed no nursery time. They were all discharged in two days. They had jaundice issues so had to wear the photo therapy vests for 3-4 days. It was kind of a hassle, but inconsequential in the scheme of things.
The funniest part of the birth story occurred after the babies were born. My daughter hemorrhaged after the placentas were delivered (that wasn't the funny part [IMG]). A volume of blood squirted out at the doctor and nurse. The nurse yelped, "Oh, baby." My very tired daughter cried, "There's another baby?"
The babies are nursing well and life is good. Every pregnancy seems to be a long one, but a twin pregnancy is even more stressful. We are so very grateful for the lives of these precious little ones.

OMGosh, look at all that hair!
They are precious; congratulations to you and Becky and all!

I have to say that was one of my worst little fears: finding a 3rd baby. I read an article while I was pregnant about a lady who had an ectopic pregancy that went undetected until birth!

Anyway, Happy Birthday to Zach and Isabelle!
