So next Friday, we leave for the big vacation to Puerto Rico. Unfortunately, because money is tight, we just couldn't afford to pay for 2 extra seats for each baby so we are lapping them. I've called the airline to change our seats when I found out about the oxygen mask situation so that's taken care of.

My concern is how it will be traveling for just over 3 hours on a plane with a baby on our laps at all times. Any suggestions? Anyone ever do this before? We will each have separate diaper bags so we don't have to worry about needing stuff but other than that, I'm not sure how to make this as smooth as possible and I don't know why, but I'm so nervous about it. Any advice or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. TIA!

I recently went to an appointment with my sis which was over 3 hours and I help Molly the entire time. It went well. She nursed and slept and ate a banana.

If you can, put them in Baby Bjorns so you can have your hands free. Give them Tylenol before the flight.

We recently just flew to Orlando and back and it was a 2 hour flight each way. We both held a baby. It went as well as can be expected. We just gave them toys to play with and they each slept for probably an hour of the flight each way. Are you and DH across the aisle from each other or in totally separate aisles? We flew Southwest and they don't assign seats so we were able to sit across the aisle from each other which helped and my oldest sat beside one of us. Another thing we did was offer a pacifier or something for them to suck on for the take off and landing so the pressure doesn't hurt their ears. Mine didn't suck on the pacifier the whole time as they don't really take pacifiers, but we tried and offered them. Hopefully yours will sleep for some of the way. There really isn't too much you can do besides make sure they have a clean diaper, are fed, have things to play with etc. The flight attendents were all very nice to us and came by several times to see if we needed anything. Good luck.

We've done it many times. You'll be tired when you get there, but you'll probably be surprised at how well they do!!!

Heck, we are going to Hawaii from Colorado in Jan. (12 hr. day) with both on our laps! (where's that head spinning smilie when you need him? [IMG] )

I just give my DH stuff when needed. We have special snacks that we buy (like chex mix for ours) that they don't normally get and plenty of water in their sippys (with the sippy leashes is helpful). Have several diapers extra and lots of wipes and you'll be fine!!!

Give yourself plenty of time to get through security and talk through your plan with your DH to coordinate it all. Be prepared to take shoes off of yourself (don't recommend shoes on the kids...you'll pay the price on your legs while flying - soft robeez type shoes) and coats etc. off kids. We have a plan every time we go through. Who is holding both kids to get through while the other folds stroller etc....

    Good luck and HAVE FUN!

How about one of those personal DVD players with baby einstein or something for a little while?

I've been on a flight with a mom and her baby, and they did fine...

Hang in there, and have a fun and safe trip.
