The kids currently have one pair of Stride Rite shoes, both need a wide width. They are growing out of them but I am trying to hold off a few more weeks before buying them. They only wear them to go out, and given how cold it has been and the preemie factor we have been spending alot of time at home lately. I want to get them a cheapie pair just to hold them over so that when we finally do get the good ones, they will have something that fits them to put on their feet. I am not brave enough to take them to Payless or something yet, as I have no help and I work on the weekends so dh will be in the same boat. I was hoping to find something online, but I am not finding anything really. Does anyone know any good sites where they have wide with say size 4 and 5 shoes that are not too pricey? Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure what you consider "pricey" but my mom bought my girls some shoes from Pedoodles and they are so soft and roomy. She bought my girls the Sweet Lady Janes and I LOVE them!!

I shop the sales on Amazon. My boys' current Stride Rite sneakers were $16.89 per pair when I bought them on sale and I got free shipping since I spent over $25. I'll also buy the next size up in advance when they put something I like on sale. You just have to not be terribly picky about the style.

I've been buying shoes at Target, Sears, and Kohls. Anywhere from $10-$18. I just bought clearance boots for next year for $4/each, and they had other shoes on clearance too.

DD1 has wider feet and I like to get these Oshkosh shoes from Kohls. Both my girls wear them. The shoes are great because they can be worn casually (cute w/jeans) and dressy. They aren't listed as wides, but they are definitely not narrow. If you watch the price online, they will go lower than 14.99. I like them too because the toe doesn't scuff and we always get compliments about them. Sometimes they slightly change the style from year to year. I think I've purchased a pair in every size up to sz 10 :D over the last 3 years.

eta: I've purchased from Target, Kohls, Childrens Place, etc. so far.

I bought some wide ones for my DS at Payless. Most of my DD's shoes are from target. They are soft and very flexible making walking really easy. Kohls also has some for a decent price.

I get all their shoes from either Target, Kmart or walmart. If they have wide feet just make sure the shoes are made for wide feet.

Preschoolians are not cheap, but they have a 40% discount (off your entire order) for multiples. You can print out their sizing chart online, too. To find the details about the discount, look at their FAQ page.

Payless has a web site that looks like you can order from. I haven't ordered from them online, but it is my favorite place for the kids' shoes.

I just bought Jon a pair of shoes from Stride Rite. They still have a number of shoes on clearence, so maybe you can do that. They had some pairs for $19.99. I am a bit of a shoe snob, and at a year would only buy Stride Rite shoes because wrong fitting shoes can cause problems, and that is one are which I have not tried to save on. Now that they are older and can tell me if their shoes are hurting, I do get them an occational pair from Walmart or Famous Footwear. As for buying in advance, other than snowboots, I have never done it. My boys will routinely skip sizes, and then hold onto one size for over a year. To me, a deal isn't worth it if you can't use the product.
