I have a question for everyone that is close to delivery. What position are your babies in and when did they stay in that position and stop turning? If anyone has baby A head down and baby B breech what are your docs wanting to do about delivery? So far mine seem happy laying transverse but I sure do hope they turn head down...I am scared to death to have a c-section! I know the bigger they get the less room they have to move around, so I didn't know if they settled in to a more permanent position earlier than a sinle pregnancy???? Help calm my nerves!!

You have plenty of time! Mine are constantly switching positions but seem to prefer the same side as each other. Sometimes they're transverse, sometimes they're not. I can't tell a head from a behind yet by palpating, but I can definitely tell which way the bodies are laying.

I'm not sure yet what we're doing about delivery. If Baby B is breech then I've been told by OTHER ppl that I can still deliver vaginally but I haven't talked to the doc yet. My thorough plan of care appt is in a couple of wks so I'll know more then. I'm pretty sure they'll do a vaginal, though.

My babies were still flipping at 34wks. We knew my baby A was head down, but I had a ultrasound at the hospital the day I delivered to ensure the position of baby b. She had turned head down -- wahoo! But even if she hadnt my doctor was comfortable with a breech delivery of baby B. They were decent weight and a good gestational age .

I saw the chiropractor regularly during my pregnancy and I truly think that made a difference opening up my pelvis for maximum growing space. I also think it made for a quick delivery as everything was all "straightened out" :)

If I had to guess your babies will change positions numerous times before delivery - probably numerous times daily until they get to big to navigate! At 16 weeks, baby a was head down and baby b was transverse. Then at 19 weeks or so baby a turned transverse as well and while they would move a little - transverse to breech and back - they've pretty much been in the same position since then. However, every baby is different and yours might be more determined to move head down than mine are. Had baby a turned head down, I could have attempted a breech delivery if I wanted to with twin b if she didn't turn on her own. Every doctor and every hospital has a different policy - I think the thing to look for is that they give you options but make sure you understand what is medically the safest for you, your babies and your individual situation. Good luck!

I'm 36 weeks tomorrow and at this point baby A is head down and baby B is breech. She was head down until last week and then decided to flip on me- I know exactly when it happened- it kind of hurt! My doctor is willing to do a vaginal birth if the babies stay in this position but 'warned' me of all complications so that I was aware of the implications of my decision. Her big request was that I have an epidural in place just in case we had to do a c-section with little to no warning. I had originally wanted to go drug free but I'm thinking that's not going to happen. My pediatrician feels that I should just schedule a c-section and get it over with b/c of the inherent risks of a vaginal breech deliver. She mentioned something about hip dysplasia in babies born breech. Has anyone else heard of this? I have an appt. tomorrow with my OB and intend to ask her about this. I really would prefer to not have a c-section for numerous reasons but I guess I just have to accept that at this point anything can happen. I'm hoping baby B might flip again and make my decision for me. Although it's possible that after baby A is born she could flip again when she gets a chance to be all alone in that big empty belly. Again, it's out of our control in the end.

im in my 33rd week and my twins are still moving around... unless you have gigantic babies i wouldnt worry too much about it.as far as baby b being breach, if baby b is not way bigger than baby a, some doctors will still do a vaginal delivery. my doctor says its one of the fun things about delivering twins... pulling out the backwards baby. it sounds kind of scary but they use the unltrasound machine to check out where the umbilical cord is and make sure the baby is neither distressed, nor that the cord is in a dangerous position.

My Dr. will not do a vaginal delivery unless both babies are vertex (head down). He feels very adamantly that it is isn't safe. I was really disappointed b/c I know several people who had a breech B and had a vaginal delivery with no complications.

I'm 34 weeks and my Baby B has been breech for quite some time. He moves his legs around quite a bit, but doesn't flip.

Mine were head down at the 26w u/s, my boy (baby B) turned to breech between 26 and 30 weeks and stayed breech. My doc had always said she's deliver vaginally as long as baby A was head down so I had a vaginal delivery with a breech extraction for baby B. He didn't turn after A was out. Very quick, uneventful, they were both close to 8lbs. Went home with me 2 days later. My doctors and hospital had a lot of experience with breech extractions. All residents are still being trained to do this procedure (a resident was actually present at the time and assisting my OB).

    im just over 35week
baby a is head down baby b is breech
i will have a natural deliver with an epidural. the epidural wasnt my choice ( i would take it anyway dint get me wrong ) but i was told i can go natural because baby a is head down, baby b can be delivered breech if she doesnt turn but if i need a c section for baby b the epidural is already in place,
tell your doctor how you feel, you will be more relaxed when you find out info from your doc

My Baby girl "Twin A" was always head down. Baby Boy "Twin B" was constantly changing positions. Even while I was in labor! Doctor did an Ultrasound to see positions, both head down. Due to their prematurity, being born at 33.4 weeks despite being given Mag to try and stop labor, Doctor recommended a C section. I had been scared to death of a C section my whole pg. I had an easy Vag delivery with my DS. Although I was scared, I wanted my babies to be born safely. Doctor was very glad that he did the C section, my little flipper, baby boy, had turned breech after the ultrasound and was very high up in my uterus. My doctor had to go in and "fish" him out!

Good Luck with your delivery, how ever it may be. I hope you have an uneventful pg and two healthy babies!

The C section wasn't at all like I expected. It really wasn't bad!

For most of my pg, Baby A was head down and Baby B was frank breech. I had a vaginal delivery at 34w6d due to pre-e and HELLP. Baby B arrived bum first with no problem. It did take her 1.5 hours after her sister was born but no big deal. The Dr had a chance to go get breakfast after a long night. Mine were the 6th and 7th babies he delivered in 12 hours.

Mine were in a bad position the entire pregnancy, they moved alot, but I don't think they were ever head down. At my last official ultrasound around 32 weeks they were transverse, one on top of the other. Baby A's spine was covering my cervix. We were told it was unlikely they would move out of these positions because baby B would need to move in a position that would allow baby A to move. But at the ultrasound before they did the C-section they were both breech. So anything is possible. I'm probably in the minority here, but I was almost relieved about the C-section. I was scared of all the labor and contractions and really scared about the possibility of a Vaginal/C-section combo birth! In the end the C-section went smooth and I would do it again. In fact, I was saying that before I even left the hospital.

I think I posted a similar question to yours when I was preggers too! I had a breech and transverse baby for most of my pregnancy. Then the transverse baby went head down and then at 32 weeks, my breech baby went head down too! I delivered at 34w5d vaginally, so it is possible for the babies to move late in pregnancy! Good luck!

Your babies will move a ton between now and delivery! My doctor told me to start thinking about a c-section just incase because baby A was head down and baby b was breech. At around 31 weeks, I was about to fall asleep and my stomach felt so weird and it kinda hurt! I thought maybe baby B had turned head up also, but when I went for my next u/s, I asked if baby A was still head down and my high risk doc said, "No, that looks like a butt to me!" :p They had both turned transverse and stayed like that until a scheduled c-section at exactly 35 weeks!! Little Stinkers!!

Ditto the others, your babies have loads of time to turn! I'll have to double-check my records for exact statistics, but I think mine were both breech until either my 22-week or 26-week appointment. Then both were vertex for a while, then Baby B flipped to breech (at 30w, I think) ... then to vertex again at 32w or 33w ... then to breech again at 34w and was still breech at my 35w appt. You really never know! Baby A's head has been pretty much locked in, ready to go, bearing down on my cervix for weeks now; my OB (who actually was a Baby B himself, lol) said in that situation that a Baby B has more room to flip and move around than a Baby A or even a vertex singleton.

And my OB's plan is to do a breech extraction if Baby B stays breech. The research really does support this; let me know if you want links to resources (someone else on this board gave me some--two from high-risk OB textbooks, one from a medical journal article abstract). Not all OBs are comfortable doing this-usually b/c they're not trained in it or not familiar with the research--but I switched OBs at 33 weeks to one who was because I wanted to give both babies the best chance of a vaginal delivery. (And for other reasons. :))

Mine were both head down for a few days, A is head down now and B is transverse. Dr was telling me all along that as long as A was head down I could push them out, 2 weeks ago he tells me the bigger one has to be head down. Well the bigger baby is B!

Mine were both transverse at every ultrasound starting at 16 weeks. Finally at 32 weeks Baby A turned head down. Baby A was breech for part of the time, but she also turned head down during the ultrasound. They are good sized already, over 4lbs each so your babes should have plenty of time to change positions. I am just hoping mine decide to stay this way.
