How do you keep the dogs from playing with the kids toys?

 

Can you put baby gates around the areas with the kids toys? If you are able to do that, it would sound like a great solution!

 

I was going to say the same thing. A gate of some sort is probably the best way. You can teach a dog not to play with toys unless they are given to them, but it takes time. When you have babies...time is not something that you have much of, so a gate would be the easiest way.

 

I use gates and a play pen for now.

 

I used to have the superyard set up in my living room. Most of the girls toys were in there.

I also would tell my dog no if she went after the girls toys. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't.

 

Ditto pps about the superyard...we have 2 together going around a huge area where I keep their toys, playmats, any dog temptations, but I also take some out when we play in other parts of the house and I just tell my dog no. He was the king of tearing apart his own toys, but he really has taken well to the babies and seems to understand the difference between his toys are theirs. We started buying him only rubber or nylon toys so he knows all stuffed toys are off limits!

 

We haven't had any problems other than all the little balls that go with all the Fisher Price stuff. Every once in a while DD will find one outside. We do kennel the only dog that would possibly care about the baby toys though. She gets in her kennel when we aren't there. So far so good.
