I am 27 weeks and I am concerned about how to moniter the babies activity. There are days when they go crazy and it's like they are having a party inside me and then like today they barely move , just some kicks here and there and i have a really hard time being able to tell the babies apart. Has anyone else experienced this?

I am going through the same thing, but I went to the MFM last week and the u/s showed that my two boys are moving around like crazy. One of my placentas is anterior which means that I dont feel much from baby b b/c he is kicking the placenta and not me. I used to worry about the movement all the time. I think I posted at least 3 different times on this board about movement but now I seem to worry less, even though it is hard.

I experience this all the time and it never stops freaking me out. I kind of know if they have a really active day that the next day may be a little slower (for my little girl sometimes it's the next couple of days!). I also have an anterior placenta with the girl so I have a feeling that is why I don't feel her as much as the boy but it's frustrating. It's kind of like in the first trimester when you normally have morning sickness and one day you feel great - you worry like crazy...but then it will come back. Seems like I'm going through the same thing now with movement. What I normally do if I'm really starting to worry is grab a notebook and make 2 columns (as far as I know from the last ultrasound baby boy is on the left side and baby girl is on the right side). After drinking a glass of ice water and eating something I'll lay down (or sit down...sometimes that works better for me for some reason) and I'll just start making a "tick" for each movement I feel (roll, kick, stretch, etc...) on the respective column. I've been getting a lot of internal kicks the last couple days so I have NO idea which one that would be. I just do the best I can. I know from reading other things that "kick counts" are supposed to be at least 10 in 2 hours. Normally I get to 10 WAY before the first hour is up and I just don't even realize it. I also remind myself that they have to sleep sometime. ;) I think if you are really concerned though to call your Doc and go in for a check. I'm getting to that point soon I think. I'm wondering if they're starting to slow down because they're getting bigger now. Lots of questions for the Doc next week. :) Good luck!

Sometimes I take a few sips of a soda or eat a banana popsicle to get my girls moving. Works like a charm and calms my nerves :)

Yes, I had this happen to me too! I think alot depends on how they are placed in there. They might be in a position where they are squished {or facing your back} and then you might not be feeling it as much. Also, you can try eating something or drinking OJ to see if maybe they were just being lazy and needed a sugar boost. Are you feeling any movement? Have you tried laying down and seeing if they move at all? If you are concerned, give your doctor a call. :good: As for telling who is who, I never had much of a problem with that. My dd was stuck under my ribcage and my ds took up pretty much the rest of the place, so it was easy to distinguish who was who with movements.

I had this happen last night. I had very little movement all day, even from my Baby A who is my BIG mover. I grabbed a drink, got comfy on the couch in a semi reclined position, suddenly I had this HUGE PAIN... I could literally see Baby B roll and flip after that, it was business as normal.. with them MOVING LIKE CRAZY! Hubby and I where laughing she had been sideways on monday, I guess she finally made up her mind. She moved and they had room to kick! We use OJ to wake them up... :)

My boys always had different phases of activity. Some days they were moving so much I thought they would bust through my belly, other days I hardly felt them at all. If you're at all concerned, though, I would call your OB- that's what they're there for! Good luck and keep us posted!
