Hi. This is a question about language development. I have been reading that twins develop language slower than singletons because they don't often get individual attention. My 5.5 month old girls make lots of noise, but no real sounds like mamamama, or dadadada. When did yours start to make coherant sounds? I don't expect them to come out with a sonnet in the next 2 motnhs, but a couple of consonant sounds would be nice.

    Thanks for your opinions......

Emma has been saying babababababa, and wawawawawawawa, for about 1.5? months. Jacob says buhbuhbuhubuh, and thats about it. [IMG]

I honestly cannot remember from my other kids. [IMG] I do know that Josh(my 3 year old)said Mama and ball, at 8 months and knew what he was saying.

It seemed late to me -- maybe 7-8 months? (I can't believe I'm already forgetting.) Before that, they would make vowel sounds, and occasionally pop out with a "babababa," but it wasn't repeated or consistent.

Mine have just started babbling consistently in the past couple of weeks (they're about 8 1/2 months now), though they've been playing around with a variety of consonant sounds for a couple of months. I have one boy who repeats Ga-ga-ga-ga all day long, and the other prefers Ba-ba-ba-ba. It's very cute and worth the wait [IMG]

Skylar started saying "Dot" about a month ago and Riley says "Hey" now and that's all they say - over and over.

Our Tyler just started babbling and making an essss sound, but Bryce has been trying to mimic my sounds, esp. 'i love yooo', for about a month already. He says a sound that is like 'aaeeeooooo' all the time!

Leighanna started babbling DADA at 6 months and at 8.5 its still all she says. Liberty started babbling at 7 months, a little later then her sister, but she says DADA, MAMA, PAPA, BABA and Grandma. She is also starting to put this together like Baba Mama, she did that last night. I think my two might be a little early though.

I think mine were closer to one and it wasn't much more than mamamamama. Don't worry, they'll be telling you NO soon enough. Be patient.
