    Hi ladies,

Looking for some input on the names we like for our b/g twins due in a couple weeks.

We are set on the boys name....William

The baby girl's name is just tough......we like Lily or Delaney.

If we do Lily, will people call them "Will and Lil"????? Is the rhyming issue just ridiculous? I really like the name Lily.

It would be William Bruce (family names) and Lily Eleanor.

Your opinions are welcome! thanks! -jillian :)

I am one of the ones who just cringe with the rhyming thing. That said this is my thought. If you name him William and want him called William let immediate family and friends know and stick to your guns. I know I have told teh story before but we named our first Russell and my father-in-law goes "how cute- a Rusty in the family". Right then and there I said no, it is NOT going to happen. His name is Russell. That is all it took. Never a Rusty again. You may need to be more persistent. I was lucky once was all it took. I like your choices. Jus stick to your guns and you will have a William and a Lily,.

The hard thing about names is that people are always going to have something to say. Just go with what you like, they are great names.

are you planning on calling him Will? I think Will is VERY cute! and some close people may call her Lil but I'm thinking that most everyone will call her Lily - which is beautiful - so if you love those names - GO FOR IT !!!

and honestly Will and Lil are adorable! IMO!!!

I think people probably will call them "Will" and "Lil," but it's not necessarily a problem. I think it's sort of cute. I wouldn't pick twin names that rhyme on purpose (just my personal preference), but in your case it's more of a coincidence.

Hi, william and lily are lovely, but so is delaney (what would delaney be shortened to? )

If you are comfortable with shortening their names and having them ryhme, then stik with them, if you prefer william and lilly, as a pp said make that known that their will be no nicknames, this does work if you are presistanet. i know lots of kids like this, victoria, alexander, jackson.

my nephew/godson is william, with the intent of being nicknamed most of the time WILL , but he gets willy, will, william.

go with whatever you can live with

I don't like rhyming names personally. But I am very partial to the name William, it's my brother's name and no one called him Will until he was in high school and wanted to be called that, until then he was always William. I think people will call them what you call them. I think William and Lily are both great names. I don't think I would call Lily, Lil, but that is just me.

I think most people will call Lily, Lily--it's not like it's a mouth full of a name. If they don't like the Will and Lil thing when they are older they will just go by their full names and most people probably won't even notice it.

I agree, go with what you like. I think they are both great names.

Our intent is to call them "William" and "Lily".......BUT, my name is Jillian and my older brother is William who was called "Billy/Bill" when growing up and even though my mom was hardcore persistent about me being called "Jillian", everyone called me "Jill". (mom went so far as to tell the teachers at the beginning of the school year to call me "Jillian" and encourage my classmates to do the same) Wasnt until my college days when I was called "Jillian" and into adulthood.

So the joke was "Bill & Jill".........I appreciate the supportive posts and I agree, in this day and age, children are called by their full names pretty consistently. Our son is "Bennett" and that is what everyone calls him, not "Ben".

Hoping to avoid the people who think they "funny" and say "Will and Lil!" (I would never shorten Lily to "Lil"! that's awful.....)

Still not sure of if I am definitely set on Lily....will keep you posted! :) Thanks for all your input!

I am very much not a fan of rhyming twin names, especially if they are the childs full given name. But this the nickname, and totally coincidental, so i think its fine. If you are persistant about your girl only been called Lily and not Lil, then i assume people will respect that and just call her Lily.

We have a similiar situation in our family, we were persistant on calling her by her full name, and if anybody called her a shorter version we would correct them, now she is only know by her full name.

I love the name Lily and I don't think that many people will shorten her name and call her Lil.
I think that names that you picked out are great.

that is really kind of funny cause we are firm with our boys name, william edward (my husband, his father and his grandfather are all williams, my grandfather was edward) so that was easy....

I totally love the name lilly but then started thinking about "willy and lilly" and don't think i can do that, and my husband said no way!!

so i think we've arrived at caroline patricia......we both really like the name caroline and patricia was his mom.

i just found it weird that i was thinking the same thing about the rhyming names!! although the people i work with have been affectionately calling the babies "jack and jill" ( i am a Kindergarten teacher and mother goose came for a visit recently......)

take care, good luck with names!!! ;)
