Well the hubby and I got a New Year's party of our own in the hospital. We had gone to bed about 11:00 on the 30th and got up about 2:00 am to let the dog out, get a drink, go to the bathroom, etc. We got back in bed and I was watching Law and Order:SVU for a few minutes I had just dozed off and a little before 3:00 my water broke.. That was the weirdest feeling. I was a nervous wreck, I called my mom and told her and asked if our son could stay with my dad. So I jumped in the shower really quick because I hadn't started contractions yet, and then took DS to mom's and headed to the hospital.. We live about an hour away from the hospital on a good day, and we had gotten about 2 inches of snow on the roads so it took longer. I was having contractions every 3-4 minutes on the way. We got to the hospital about 4:30 and they did an ultrasound to check positions. Baby A (Ayren) was head down and there, but Baby B (Alyvia) was completley breach. So they gave me the option of trying to deliver naturally and seeing if Alyvia would turn once her brother got out, but if not I would have a c-Section, or I could have just done a C-section. The dr. went to call for the epidural and came back and within minutes I was being wheeled into the OR. They just kinda decided to let me deliver naturally because I was 10 cm and ready to push. Ayren James was born at 5:54 am and weighed 5lbs 7 ozs and was 19 1/2 inches long. Then it was Alyvia's turn and she didn't turn. They called another dr and he was going to try and turn her. He tried twice and it didn't work, but hurt like the dickens.. That was worse than the labor. So I was being moved to another table and being prepped for a c-section.. I cried because I was bummed out and scared out of my mind.. I have never had surgery. They increase the epidural and decided to try and turn her one more time, that time I was more relaxed and it worked. So now we were back to pushing.. Alyvia wasn't responding well to me pushing and the contractions so they had to use the vacuum to help her. Alyvia Jeanne was born at 6:39 am and weighed 6 lbs 4 ozs and was 19 1/4 inches long. I couldn't believe they were that big. I was not quite 36 weeks.

Ayren was taken to the nursery to be checked out, and a nurse came back shortly and said he had low blood sugar and they wanted to give him some formula to try and bring it up. So that was a little scary. I hadn't been able to hold him, I only saw him for a few minutes while the DH was holding him. I got to hold Alyvia right away and I could nurse her. She took very well to it. They were finally brought into our room about noon, and Ayren's blood sugar was getting better but they had to check him every couple of hours. Finally later that night he was just find and didn't need anymore checks. Alyvia has a slight case of jaundice, but isn't dangerous for her right now. I had to take her to her pediatrician the day after we got home to be rechecked. It went up, but still isn't dangerous. I have to take her back next week for another check, but I am having faith that she will be just fine. We all came home on the 2nd and are doing great, other than we are staying at the in-laws because we are putting an addition on and are about ready to start working on the inside of our existing house. I cried all night the first night, and wasn't too bad yesterday, but was busy with their dr. appts.. I just want to be in my own home.. but I know we have to stay here because we don't want them in all that.. I am not quite sure how to post pictures.

Congratulations on your healthy babies!!! I'm glad you didn't need a C after all :)
Hang in there at the in-laws, it must be so frustrating not to be in your own home when you're going through this big transition.
