my 3 week old def has reflux.
constantly spitting up. screams, gurgles, arches. i can hear the milk coming up and its coming out her nose, too. she's having inconsolable fits; only ok upright and we are getting no sleep. she always sounds like she's clearing her throat, too.

she's been on zantac for about 1.5 weeks and its not working.
going to see a GI but not for a few days.

    advice, please.
my twins had reflux but were fine on zantac.

should i buy the nap nanny? as per the pedi we've tried thickening feeds and its not helping. she told me to try the enfamil AR but id like to EBF as long as possible.

    ETA
she hates the car seat and swing....she only sleeps in the boppy or on my chest on her belly.
and milk just started dripping out her nose!!!!!! she's sitting up on me.

Zantac is incredibly weight reliant, and any increase in their weight can throw off the effectiveness of zantac. Ask for reglan, it's not affected by weight gain. It worked far better for us (and dose for most babies) than zantac does.

Otherwise, keep her raised up for at least 30 minutes after each feeding. Burp her more often during, even if you are breastfeeding her. Try using gas drops to help settle the air in her tummy. Feed her smaller amounts, more often.

we hold her up for 45 mins. as soon as we lie her down, its all downhill.
gurgling, hiccuping and spitting up literally as soon as she's put down.

she's on .7 mL and about 8 lbs??

I wish I had some super advice, but only hugs and sympathy. :( I thought we could escape it with our little one but she ended up having it pretty much as you describe with your baby. We were on prevacid and that helped a lot. We did buy the nap nanny and she slept in there until about 6/7 months. I did end up cutting out dairy of my diet and that seemed to help the most. I wore her in a carrier a lot b/c of the reflux too. I hope you get some answers at the GI!

I had to cut out dairy, too, and Zantac didn't work for mine. Prevacid did, though.

I would call the GI and see if you can get in sooner, it sounds like she might be allergic to something. In the mean time, as others suggested, I would cut all dairy out of your diet, since that's the most likely allergen to cut out first and see if that helps. It'll take I think it's 48 hrs to get all the dairy out of your milk? It could be longer than that I can't remember for sure.

It took 2 full weeks to get out all traces of dairy for me, but at 11 days I noticed SIGNIFICANT improvement.

there was stool in her blood today and the doctor wants her on alimentum.
he said for me to cut-out all dairy and in 1-week they would 're-test' her stool. he said to do every-other feedings of BM and then the formula.

    thoughts?

I think you should follow your dr, although if you want to continue bf'ing I would pump when you give her a formula so you can keep your supply up.

I would cut out Wheat, dairy, & soy.
Basically eat fruits & veggies for 2 weeks. Then slowly re-introduce 1 at a time. Are you working an IBCLC? Id also recommend that and/or a naturopath- preferably someone knowledgeable about allergies & food sensitivities.
