    Hi Ladies,

Our hospital here in CT has a policy that states that scheduled c/s's must be done no earlier than 38.5 weeks. Curious to hear what you all are being told.

My due date is January 21st and c/s scheduled for January 14th (ug). My ds who is now 3, his due date was 5/26 and his scheduled c/s was on 5/12. The policy has changed from 38 weeks to 38.5 weeks.

I know my goal is to keep the twins in as long as I physically can! Here I will be 29 weeks tomorrow and wish I could just fast forward and get on with it! My regular ob scheduled the January 14th date and when I told my high risk ob from Yale, she laughed and said I wont make it past Christmas :), which from the middle of December to the end of December is 35-37 weeks.

So we will see if December is an eventful month or a quiet (and uncomfortable) one!

I don't know if my hospital had a policy, but I had a scheduled c/s at 37.1 wks. My dr did a u/s and said that I had run out of room for my amnions, so keeping them in another week would have them in a deprived environment. When I got to L&D the nurse did say, "At first I thought, 'Why are we sectioning her?' but now that I look at you, I see why."

ETA: My due date was Jan 10; they came Dec 21.

I think at my hospital it's up to the doctor. My OB doesn't want me to go past 37wks. Right now I'm just trying to get as far as I can! (I'm on bedrest...) But I don't think many of the nurses or doctors think I'll go much past 34-35 weeks- if that far.

I asked my doc for an "end" date 2 weeks ago- and he told me he technically couldn't induce or do a c-section before 38 weeks without reason or an amnio. So I guess unless something comes up we are looking at Dec 19 or 20th- he said he would go a few days earlier than 38 weeks- which is Dec 21. But he also honestly does not think I will make it that far- he laughs when I bring it up :p

My doc wouldn't do them before 38 weeks, but I went into labor at 36, so out they came :D

Seems like the policy of waiting until 38.5 weeks should only apply to singletons. My hospital leaves it up to the doctor's discretion. In my practice, I deliver twins between 37-38 weeks, unless there is a medical indication to do it sooner.

My hospital doesn't schedule until 38 weeks at the earliest unless there are medical issues.

I think mine is 38 weeks. Same as for an induction. I kept asking my Doc and he seemed to think they would come on there own and was reluctant to book me in. Well, I am now 37w3days and I dont think the little buggers even want to come out!! No matter how much I beg them. lol
He booked me in for 38w3days, I had kittens about that - 3 more days (after the weekend)- are you kidding me. I have an app today and I'm going to beg them to take them earlier. Surely they are cooked. I am convinced they are squished. I know I am. They barely move anymore.

My dd's c-section was scheduled for 36 weeks, but her twins were di-mo and her peri felt there was more risk to leave them in then take them out... I know there are others with di-mo's whose peri/ob did not have this opinion.

My OB likes to deliver twins in the 37th week (usually mid-way). Thank goodness as that means I only have a little over a week to go. :D

I don't know if there is a hospital policy, but my doctor said he'd go as late as 39 weeks. I had mine scheduled at 38 weeks.

I would think that policy would change for multiples..and each particular situation though. My hospital did not schedule c/s weeks and weeks in advance like many of the women here. I got mine scheduled just 3 days prior, and I was 37wks 5days. It could depend on ob/gyn policy too though.

My peri scheduled them between 37-38 weeks, delivery by 38 weeks for multiples.
